For like every 100 to 150 shows that come out there's only one or two that really stand out.

Most of them follow the same basic template and good lord does it show.

The template is the socially inept main dude, the weird sophisticated "different" girl who sweeps him away, the birthday, the beach, the school festival, and the baking episodes.

The socially inept dude finds his courage/discovers powers he didn't know he had. They save their school club from mediocrity. Or saves his friends from whatever antagonist force arrives, and the show ends.

The ones that break this template are the ones that really catch my attention.
