I am a 30-year-old college student who started late and am considered a grandpa among the youth. I always had trouble making decisions and am on the autistic spectrum. Most people learn faster than me.
I noticed with anime there's TOO much youth. I just can't relate to the young people cast as lead while I take longer to learn than most people. Yes, I am an idiot.
At the same time, I am a giant fan of old man protagonist media such as Halo, Mortal Kombat, Doom, Grand Theft Auto 5 and Saints Row (I made the main character a 38-year-old). I just can't get behind youthful protagonists, since I don't learn quickly and am a 30-year-old geezer among a sea of 18-24-year-olds.
The media NEVER shows older college students and focuses heavily on young geniuses. At age 30, I am expected to be a professional or an entrepreneur, instead of living at home with his parents to support them, since they have health problems and they need me.
Why does anime look down at late bloomers? Why can't they ever show 30-year-old college students or even 30-year-old high school students?
