The supermarket I work at over night tends to play a lot of 70s and 80s music like Crackling Rosie by Neil Diamond, Crocodile Rock by Elton John, Dancing Queen by ABBA, Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper, and occasionally some modern stuff like Firework by Katy Perry and Worth It by Fifth Harmony. However the most random song I hear is Cherry Bomb by The Runaways, not really the kinda music for a grocery store 😂😂

Yeah, quite often. My life revolves around music so, I DO notice what they're playing most often.
When I used to work at 7-11, the graveyard shift, my boss always had the radio turned to the oldies station. That's fine with me but, by that time, they were playing a lot of the garbage from the mid to late `70's (they always stay about 20 years behind the times. When dad used to listen to them in the `60's, they were playing big band music.) and, although I was okay with SOME of it, I decided to bring in my cassette deck and play a bunch of King Crimson albums. Most never paid attention to it but some liked it a lot and a few others wanted to know who I was listening to because they liked it, too, even though they'd never heard of it before.02 Reply- 20 d
graveyard shift is an interesting phrasing lol

@Maybe_Maybe_not 11 p. m. - 7 a. m.. That's always called graveyard shift. Anything overnight is graveyard.

I do pay attention, and that's when I put my headphones on, to stop giving attention to unsolicited music.

There was one occurrence that made me laugh though, when a supermarket blasted some political rock conveying an anti-consumerist message lol

I discovered an artist that became my favorite for a while because of me discovering them while working in a grocery store. Every time i heard a song I liked, I Shazammed it and after a couple of the songs being by the same artist, i decided to just check their discography out and I became a fan.

I remember when my first husband who I loved very much left my son and I and I would go grocery shopping and the music playing in the store was making me cry and think about him.
Sometimes I just left my cart with the food in it and had to leave the store.10 Reply

AskOh, supermarket music is fascinating! It's like an unexpected playlist that takes you on a nostalgic trip. The 70s and 80s hits with Neil Diamond, Elton John, and ABBA can make grocery shopping feel like a fun retro experience. 🎶 Occasionally mixing in modern tracks by Katy Perry and Fifth Harmony keeps it fresh. The random inclusion of "Cherry Bomb" by The Runaways is hilarious – it definitely spices things up and can give you an energy boost for stocking those shelves. Next time you hear a song that catches you off guard, embrace the randomness and dance a little in the aisles! 💃🛒✨

I usually always do when it’s catchy and grabs my attention. Sometimes if it isn’t I still listen, momentarily, if it’s loud enough. Otherwise I don’t. Gotta get in and get out. 💯
10 ReplyI'm usually singing along to the songs in the grocery store. Once even did a short duet with one of the girls working there 😄

Occasionally I notice the music, but it gets interrupted so often with the electronic voice "There's a call on line 4".
10 Reply Yes, if I can hear it, I'll listen to the music they have playing. Sometimes the store is too noisy to hear what they have playing.

It just depends I hear Faith Hill a lot too and Shania Twain. Supermarket music is played so that you’ll want to stay and shop longer especially if a song comes on that you want to hear, that’s why they play it.
I hear pretty much a mix of about everything. Once I even hear Elmo playing and Disney songs.

only if i hear a song that i would think is inappropriate. i have heard wap being played at a store once. not the censored version. also one grocery store played a lot of rave music, which was the most stressful thing i have ever experienced.
