The picture shows the only known photo of Leonardo da Vinci and his model Mona Lisa taken in 1504 by an unknown photographer in New York.

While we've all had our photos taken few of us these days have had our portrait painted. But have you?

I've had lots of portrait photos taken. My wife and I had our caricatures drawn once in San Francisco. But I've never had my portrait painted. I don't have a manor house wall big enough to display it on. LOL

Years ago, a friend, violin virtuoso decided to make my portrait out of memory. Honestly I'm not sure about the artistic result, but only fair because of a funny video I made of him ;0)

Portrait, no. Caricature, yes. In a sea side town called Ship Bottom on Long Beach Island, NJ. We did have our kids sketched by a talented artist in Central Park in Manhattan.

I had a caricature artist draw me when I was about 12 - I think we were at Knott's Berry Farm (a rural-themed amusement park in the Los Angeles area). That's about as close as I've ever got.

I have. I actually commissioned 2 portraits, and the 1 got sold out from under me by accident to an art dealer who was able to flip my painting for $800. Apparently the client who ultimately bought it said he thought I looked like a sailor.
