Is it me or do these songs sound creepy nowadays?

despite these hits coming years before I was born I gotta say that I've always love these two songs. but now for some reason when I sit down and focus on the lyrics they tend to sound creepy to me. these are the hits...

not sure if social media is yet another thing to blame for fucking up my perception on this track but I find it creepy now because clearly in this track Sting is singing about how he is being somewhat of a Big Brother to whoever he is singing to.

"Every breath you take
And every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you"

clearly it sounds like he is stalking the person he is singing too at full blast. another hit I find creepy today is this one...

I remember hearing this one in the summer of 1999 on that Super Smash Brothers commercial on the Nintendo 64. I've enjoy it since then but after listening to the lyrics carefully he too sounds like he is being an obsessive stalker. he's talking about how he can't stop thinking about his crush and how he is willing to do anything to get her attention and show all the love he has for her. but then again this song came out in the 60s and I'm assuming that women back then werent as jumpy as women are today.

till then again I'm not the only person who has made this assumption, I worked at the apple store years ago and we were listening to the radio and these songs came up and everyone in the room said the same thing, and one of my coworkers concluded that we might perceive these songs as creepy because social media made our lives this way
