Kesha announced early this Fall that she would re-record her hit song “TiK ToK,” changing the intro to the song which originally said, "Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy” to “fuck P. Diddy,” following accusations against the media mogul that came to light earlier this year. For Kesha, obviously this controversy happened well after the song was already was well known, but for other artists who knowingly either wrote or approved of and sang lyrics that were offensive, hurtful, or just plain ignorant, do you give them a pass...because they changed it now? Are they just changing lyrics because of societal pressure/money or because they actually realized they were wrong?

Her career is basically over. It's all a PR exercise to make money and revive her career. Obviously she has to change the lyrics because she can't go around singing about waking up in the morning feeling like P Diddy. Just as problematic is her singing about brushing her teeth in the morning with a bottle of jack and sleeping around what kind of message was that to send to her targeted demographic of teens. It's all very krass to be honest, but that's celebrities anything to make a pound. Now she's a middle aged mother.

Kesha has a history of being abused, given her history with her old producer. She has enough an awareness to know that some people are going to be uncomfortable hearing that if the news about P Diddy’s abuse triggered their own trauma. It’s not much of a change, it honestly sounds like a negligible difference just so she can update her music for a modern audience

I mean, it's like the first lyric line of the song which is still pretty popular on radio, so I think that's pretty big, and as you mention, she has her own history, so it's hard to sing something where you've been a victim or a survivor, about someone who has victimized others.

when Trump first mentioned draining the swamp, I didn't know what he was on about
fast forward till now with the exposure of the deep state, Hunter Biden laptop, exposure of the war criminals within the government, the arrest of Jeffrey Epstein's arrest and arrest of P Diddy and how hard the mainstream media and entertainment go hard at Trump, I finally know it's all about the corruption of the status quo
when Trump becomes president, can't wait till he puts Epstein and Diddy's client lists on public display and I have a feeling there'd be names on there we'd least expect

She can do what she wants. But her pretending she didn’t know p diddy was up to all this is bs. She knew damn well he wasn’t exact as clean as the driven snows.
Also she doesn’t have to 180 the sound lyric. She could of just changed it to “woke up this morning feeling giddy” instead of “feeling p diddy”
Another thing is p diddy hasn’t been found guilty yet in a trial of law. Doesn’t look good for him (he’s likely guilty as sin). But still give the man a fair trial to let him say his side of the story.
12 Reply- Asker20 d
Even without the trial happening, he's on tape violently beating up his ex girlfriend. That's enough. Period.
- 20 d
99.99% chance he’s guilty for a whole slew of thing and a total POS.
But do you remember the whole Amber Herd and Johnny Deppe fiasco? But everybody initially took Amber Herd’s word at face value when she claimed Johnny Deppe was physically abusing her. Johnny was blackballed from Hollywood for 5 years. And as it turns out Amber was the POS abuser ALL ALONG. But she’s still getting work today. She never be blackballed.
Anyway the point I am trying to make it that #metoo mob justice is f’ing dangerous. That’s not to say P Diddy is “innocent”. But let the trial roll out and let both side present all facts before you pass judgment.

AskArtists revisiting and revising their lyrics is a complex and personal decision. In Kesha's case, changing lyrics in "TiK ToK" could reflect personal growth and a response to societal changes. The intention behind these changes can vary; some artists may genuinely recognize past insensitivity, while others might feel societal pressure or commercial incentives. Ultimately, it's important to consider both the context and the artist's intent. Recognizing past errors and showing a willingness to evolve are positive steps toward fostering more inclusive art. 🌟

Censorship is cowardice. Self-censorship is not an exception.
20 Reply 300 opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. I never liked Kesha anyway and always found her voice to be full of malice, so I don't really care. But to build on what @blueonblack22 was saying, she most likely already knew what Diddy was doing way back then anyway. Almost all Hollywood stars know about the badness that each other does and they all take part in it. It's only one when one has their shit come to the light that the others are now ready to start distancing themselves and denouncing them so that they don't get caught up in the scandal. Hollywood is nothing but a glorified version of high school and college campus.

Look up who owned the rights to her song until she re-recorded it.
Same shit happened to that one chick... something Swift... Taylor I think. George Soros's brother was stealing all her money so she re-recorded the entire album.
I suspect Pedo Didler owned some rights since he let his name be used in the first place.00 Reply - 21 d
Doing something like P Diddy now is different than doing something like P Diddy years ago, now people are aware that being like P Diddy is a perverted warp minded pedophile, many people have done changes and I can't blame them, actually the whole city of Miami took back the key of the but they gave him years ago, supposedly he was known as a party maniac but I guess people didn't know what really happened at those parties, I don't blame Kesha for wanting to change her lyrics.

👀 😲 sometimes Kesha, and this is going back to 2012 , I liked her music and still like her music, however it's odd why Kesha seems to randomly pop up and become like, I don't know how to word it. Like, i could understand better as a PR thing as opposed to like some moral crusade she has to embark on and it's all about her her her and the song song song rather than just appreciating that a song from say 2011 or 2010, is just that, a song from a bygone era 😋🙃

Otherwise it's weird why people want to time travel all the time so to speak

I hate when people change because it came out that they were bad.. you always knew they were bad but now you are just so desperate to become relevant again you will out someone you once used to further your career.. pathetic human behaviour.

It's their "baby" their motives and frankly none of my affair. I would prefer that ❄️ change their attitudes and find another source of juvenile petty outrage.
12 Reply- Asker20 d
Kesha is a victim of abuse herself. I don't think her motives are being a snowflake.
- 20 d
I'm well awAre of Kesha's ordeals. I love her and her music.
You misunderstood. I would prefer that snowflakes who have a problem with the original lyrics should find another use for their time.
I'm actually over the moon that she's back, independent and still with that IDGAF attitude!! 😍
You know what’s funny? Lately, I’ve been thinking about that specific lyric. And all I could wonder is, “How does she feel now?” It’s a great song and it brings back memories but now I don’t know 🤷♀️
01 Reply- Asker20 d
Clearly not good because she's changed them!
I think its completely and utterly wrong , and not her decision to make , she is involving herself and thats completely and utterly unnecessary.
00 Reply- 21 d
I still listen to that song and like it but I don't think she should change the lyrics, they are what they are, censorship and cancel culture in my opinion are cowardly and wrong. It's a fun song.

People have to distance themselves from him because of everything if they don't they don't it will appear they approve of his behavior so they have to disavow him
00 Reply - 20 d
i think people are just way too political generally speaking and have too few problems of their own so they can be all up in other peoples business all day complaining about stuff that doesn't concern them.

Some may even say: aren't some of the other lyrics in her song perhaps outdated and that's a reflection on her lol Kesha aka - it opens up scrutiny to the whole song lyrics by lyrics and that's on Kesha for her values lol crica 2010 or whatever lol -
Wait, so are the lyrics now going to be, "wake up in the morning and fuck P. Diddy?" Because that's a little too on the nose. . .
12 ReplyI mean I think it’s hilarious. Listen to Eminem’s Fuel and he calls Diddy out too.
