Did Disney miscast Snow White?

The Snow White 2025 movie has had a lot of criticism. It cost almost $400 million to make, yet is earning only about half of that. Estimates are that the movie will lose at least $100 million.

For all the criticisms about the movie, its many reshoots, the CGI dwarfs, the non-movie actions of its cast (especially its star) and Disney in general, one topic that hasn't been talked about is casting.

Looking at the image above, that shows the live-action Snow White, portrayed by Rachel Zegler, and the original animated character, side-by-side, some might say that the original animated character is pretty and lively, while Rachel Zegler is, in contrast, more reserved and average-looking.

If that is true, that's a basic error in casting.

So many questions. :- ) Miscast? Plain vs lively? The original SW DID come more from the (more flirty) Betty Boop era, so there's that part of it. The major reason the remake flopped is because of the simple concept that- in addition to the woke additions- 'it simply could not be redone in a manner consistent with the excellence of the original'. This is true of SO many other poor attempts at re-makes. MacGyver TOS is my "go-to" example. RDA will never be even met- yet alone beaten- as THE perfect Mac, whether live person, CG, AI, or any other means. Other failures- Magnum PI, Matlock, Miracle on 34th St., etc. ad nauseum- have to be "relevant"- have to "change with the times". The Hawaii Five O is the only remake that is even remotely as good as the original. At least they stuck with the "TOS family" tie-line in the script.

she's been offered the part several times and then had it pulled away. finally her agent told Disney to fuck off and stopped taking offers

she's 15 years older but a much better actress (and a professional singer in her own right), a much bigger star, respectful of the audience, and she would have opened with blockbuster sales which is what a tentpole movie like this is intended to do

I don't agree with the casting, I think it wasn't The brightest move in these divisive times and played into the hands of the usual crowd. It's sad that what should have been a fun children's movie has been the target of a political hate campaign. Disney should have had more sense.

The entire movie and the company are a woke disaster. They are ruining everything they touch. The casting in this particular movie was also a disaster. Rachel does not look like a "Snow White", nor does her character match the character of Snow White - I mean it's like casting Pee Wee Herman as The Terminator. Doesn't fit - although that could have been hilarious...
