Do you ever read the foreword to a book?

Whether or not the book is fiction, do you ever read the foreword? Do you think it's important?

Sometimes I'll read forwards and prefaces. I'll at least take a glance to see what kind of forward or preface it is... and how long it is.

Sometimes they ramble on about stuff I couldn't care less about. Other times it's important information.

Then there are prologues, which are basically part of the main text.

Too few people remember what a book is :D

I usually read the first few lines, and then decide if it's relevant to me.

Where I will stop latest is, when the author begins to thank for the support of his Mom, his cat, Auntie Martha and such.

Most of the time I want to see the story, but I want to see it from my own point of view - not so much as a guided tour.

Not really but sometimes. I am currently reading John & Paul (about the Beatles and their songs) and I did read the Prologue.

I am also perusing a couple of cook books including Tasting History, but haven’t ready any of the text other than descriptions of ancient recipes from hundreds to thousands of years ago.

I don't hate myself enough to spoil the book I'm reading. Talk about working against yourself. No way. Never.

Yes, I read nearly everything, cover to cover. There's almost always some interesting, illuminating, or otherwise, value information to be learned from the foreword.
