I heard this song yesterday. I have not heard this artist in many years. She has written a lot of humorous songs but she can also be very poignant.

Vicky was my high school "love" (in reality, a crush. . . but not love.) She was a bit more mature than me at that time, and I missed obvious signs of encouragement and was simply too shy to move forward. When I had that epiphany moment, it was too late, and I was devastated for several years.

Oksana was a girl I first dated in 2007 and I saw her intermittently over the next 13 years. After 13 years, we were talking about me moving to her location (about 240 miles away from me) to finally be together. The very next thing she said was "Will you but us a house to live in, because I need to rent out my house to generate an income." When I realized that she saw me as a financial fix and not a love, I was devastated. That stung for many years.

And I had been seriously head over heels for Oksana! She was intelligent, pretty, kind, gentle. . . but also very materialistic, I presume from growing up under Communism in the Ukraine.
