Do you read out loud or in silence?

Ouch the trauma. When i was 3 the adults saw me holding a book. Looking at the words. They attacked "don't pretend to read if you can't " i was too young to avoid the trap, so i read aloud each word. Then they mocked "he says each word to read , nobody reads like that".

In silence. But I also prefer silence when reading a book. I tend to get absorbed by the story being told or just want to enjoy the language being used.

So you could say in silence, but with a little voice inside my head that is anything but silent.

Other than when giving forensic evidence in courts, reading out something to my husband, parents, friends etc. or naturally reading to our two children... Then I read either very quietly or in silence.

Depends on if I fully understand what I’m reading or not. I read a few texts with some complex syntax so it helps to read it out loud to focus sometimes.

Silence!..  I read fast like 300 Words per minute.. speaking out loud is not logical for me!..  Sometimes when I am speaking, I need to slow down for others to understand what I am saying!

In silence thankfully  Loud readers can be a bit irritating especially if they whisper  Not that I would mind someone reading but in a public place it could be bothersome

Books and such I read it quietly to myself. Tough instructions that I'm trying to understand, I read outloud to myself. Then when I'm actually doing it I talk myself through it. Sometimes I need to read them outloud again.
