i think because they were as average as average gets and maybe below. if we start from the very bottom with all sorts of disadvantages-- it makes the rise of these characters epically meteoric! they rise fast and the stories are very well-developed.

and while tolkien deserves his credit, rowling became next the george lucas. i'd like to point out that writing is definitely not dead but the ideas seem to have disappeared. i'm sure there's some formulaic release of brilliance which is why creative genius is panned at the start.

I've heard there's some rumbling about Fourth Wing , a dragons and teenager romp with female lead as a dragon rider but it's nothing like either of these titles

and that hit buzzwords for me. i can already have a story before i read theirs. twilight didn't do it for me. it was a rehashing of everything already done. and that makes a profit because people don't read.

in a sense, it's like the people in charge of entertainment forgot that creativity is the selling point.

Yeah, 100% with Twilight. I expected it to be decent because I've always had a soft spot for Vampires and Werewolves but that was just trashy mushy crap. It's just a winding up of the same old shit

Well now... I am a mega Harry Potter Fan and I think he is the best because he is a little boy who has lost his parents and he has the resilience to navigate that loss while at the same time become a strong wizard to defeat voldemort and also try to live a normal life as much as possible. a lot of his traits character wise and his behaviours are aspects which I can very easily understand.
