We are approaching the anniversary of the death of Jim Croce. Were any of you fans?

Yes, this question was inspired by @Beckybooboo.

Jim Croce died in a plane crash on Sept. 20, 1973. He was originally a folk act but he had a string of hits in the early 70s/. He was very popular after his death. This was the first song I ever heard him sing.

"Operator, could you help me place this call?

'Cause I can't read the number that you just gave me.

You know it happens every time,

I think about the love that I thought would save me."

I have heard of him and I have always liked this song, all these years I thought John Denver sang it. I like older music and really appreciate it but I just have trouble knowing who sang what. If you remember, I thought the Wilson brothers were the Bee Gees 🤦

He wrote some great songs and had a cool voice. He sang and played guitar very well.
I remember a lot of his music.
A very talented guy who left us way too soon.
It's amazing how many wonderful artists have tragically died in plane crashes.

They used to have to charter small planes to get to the next gig. Sometimes they would fly in bad weather and sometimes the charter would not be well maintained. John Denver was piloting his own plane and he ran out of gas. Ironically he had a 3000 gallon gas tank on his property so if there was another gas shortage he could still drive around in his jeep.

OMG... I saw this on some documentary about John Denver's death. He actually had another fuel tank on his plane but couldn't reach the switch to switch it over to the full tank. I think the cockpit was redesigned and they didn't take that into account.
