Have you ever made a collage?

Question

I made this yesterday at a Art Museum. I call it " Almost Heaven, West Virginia " inspired by the John Denver song " Take me Home, Country Roads" l. The man in the center represents the miners of West Virginia, the lady at the weaving loom represents Appalachian culture, The man at the guitar represents the bluegrass and Country influences from West Virginia, and the owl represents the nature and scenery of West Virginia. The man in the center i found that picture first and the song came to my head because he looks like a mountaineer.

I college I had a huge one over my dorm bed, kind of a college-collage. But, I have made some serious ones as stand-alone artwork. I was also the Publicist for our church decades ago when I had time to make collage/scrapbooks OF the newspaper clippings (back when we actually had newspapers TO clip).

I made a few in high school and one or two since.

The last one was a vision board that I made at my wife's prompting over 20 years ago. It was composed of photos and words that I cut out of various magazines and represented dreams/goals for the future.

It looks nice, and cultured, but I thought a collage was a cut and paste mixture, while yours looks more like a combination of sketch and cut and paste images.
