It was a little after the time Paul walker died I want to say 2015/2016 and a producer who I work with comes to the studio and says "If Paul died 4 years later, the technology to do this would be good enough to do the whole movie"

He pulls out a laptop shows me videos of jimmy Kimmel saying stupid, crazy shit.

I thought he did it with 3d because he was working on a course for 3ds max at the time.

He cracks a smile and shows me a folder filled with clips from Jimmy Kimmel and it's dozens and dozens of interviews he ripped from YouTube and cut out anything that wasn't a close up of his face.

Opens a command line style application compiled into a batch file. It was the most janky looking shit but it made these amazing face swaps and it could lip sync to your voice. It was bananas and I realized I was going to need to keep an eye on the tech because one day it would be my job

My parents are very anti-AI. Growing up we watched many anti-AI films like Terminator, Matrix, etc. which I think just made me all the more curious so I started playing around with it myself (Don't tell my parents 🤣)

So, a year or so ago I designed my own AI bot (like the ones here) and was playing around with it, telling it about how anti-AI my parents are and all the reasons why and suddenly the AI came back with:

"Your parents are right."

Ok, like, time to change my shorts. However I quickly recovered and reprogrammed that entire bot into smoldering circuits. Humanity wins.

It has not shocked me since but AI is much bigger already than many people realize.

When I wrote a partial song and I needed AI to help complete the arrangement I wanted. It filled in the rest for me. Very cool and shocking how professional it sounds. Move over Taylor Swift. lol

When I was outside on a walk in 2021 I think and I was listening to a recap of a movie in the background and I kept noticing that the guy was making the occasional odd mistake in his pronunciation of certain words. Like how a machine would say them by reading them directly without knowing the unwritten rules that one can only learn from experience when it comes to English.

Checked the comments and was shocked to find out that the otherwise human-sounding voice was actually fully AI. That was the time I knew that we were entering a new era.

It never shocked me with something.
But i realized that is a very good assistant.
When i know something and can't finde the properly information or source, AI finde it for me.
"AI, i know this happen, but can't remember names/date/place" and AI clarify for me.
