fortunately... not in all cases, and the world of music is so vast too (once you shut down Spotify and similar) there's a whole lot to discover new and old, both... lol

even if people stick to just YouTube... there's enough channels from studios, radio stations and organizations that will only or mostly bring bands that go Live, acoustic and with actual, real, instruments and vocals... so, even the more mainstream sites are not total dumpsters lmao

Many musicians (if you can call them that) don't even play on their albums. It is all generated by AI. At least 90% of modern pop music is created that way.

I like Rick Beato videos. But when it comes to music, to each their own. I TRY to be open minded with music, and at least give it a chance. I know that now I like "old fart" music that my dad listened to, but now I love a lot of that music from the 30s and 40s.

There is plenty of modern music that is good. Every generation has talented musicians.

The main difference in the 60s and 70s good musicians were in the mainstream, but it is rare now. We live in an era of heavy quantization, auto-tuning, and pitch correction. Anyone can record and be successful with the right push. No talent required.

When we look at music in hindsight, we mostly look at the music that has withstood the test of time. We don't think of all the garbage from that era. My initial reaction is to agree about mainstream artists from the 60s and 70s. But I also know that the music we think of and remember from that era was not necessarily the norm.

We mostly listened to AM radio which played virtually none of what we now think of as 60s and 70s music.

I have an unfinished project of bookmarking the Billboard top 10 hits from each year in the 60s and 70s.

Here's what we're listening to and going to concerts for. . . The Warning (best rock band in the world right now), Porcupine Tree, The Pretty Reckless, Hollywood Vampires, Plush, Platinum Moon, Here Come The Mummies (George Clinton meets Sly & The Family Stone meets Kiss), Progject, and for something different: The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.

We also go see Collective Soul and Blood, Sweat & Tears and listen to Spock's Beard (waiting for them to tour in the US), and Freeze The Fall (waiting for our passports to go see them).

Nope. Best thing that has happened to rock music in over 30+ years. Craftsmanship, songwriting, stage presence, and personalities is part of what makes from the best right now. They're pretty much selling out 1000 to 10,000 seat venues where ever they perform.

I like many newer bands, but you won't find them in the AI, autotuned mainstream world. 99% of modern pop and even most rock is fake.
