Speed boat vs Water Skiing. Which one would you rather try and why?

Well aren’t they two very different things? One is going for a ride in a boat, which is kinda passive and sounds like some kind of recreation activity. The other is a physically demanding and challenging (dare I say) sporty-kinda activity, being dragged behind said boat? Like actually having to get in the water! …?

I don’t know, I’ve done both, and I have to say this point, I have no desire to waterski ever again, much less get into any lake or ocean, …and would have to choose the speed boat ride, given the right conditions and perimeters (like what kind of speed boat, how fast, who is driving, etc. etc.)

I’d rather try a speed boat ride. It feels more relaxed and enjoyable because you can just sit back, feel the wind, and take in the water and scenery without having to constantly balance or control your movements.

Water skiing looks fun too, but it seems more physically demanding and focused, you really have to concentrate on staying up and controlling your balance the whole time. The speed boat feels like you get the thrill of speed without as much effort, so it would probably be more enjoyable for me.

I will take the Speed Boat ride. I have been on dozens of types so it will be fun to compare it to others.

I used to own a Fish / Ski boat that would do 62 miles an hour whereas most other boats do 45 MPH or lower. I would drag the kids on a Big Bertha which is a large inflatable made for the purpose. You could whip them around and they would go faster than a water skier for sure. Two days ago I drove a boat for 5 hours on the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW). I took my wife and we went to a new restaurant with boat slips. I don’t own that boat but I have access to many when I want them.

Why not own a speedboat and use it to waterski? I did. On lakes. On the Atlantic Ocean. A better way to have fun trying to kill each other is tubing. My ex brother in law and I used to do this on lakes in New Hampshire and Maine. Everyone else was like... "no thank you". There is no control other than the guy who has his hand on the boat throttle and steering wheel.

I love anything that mixes movement with a bit of skill and rhythm. Water skiing feels more interactive, like your body is part of the art of motion, almost like drawing lines on the water. A speed boat ride is fun, but more passive. Water skiing would give me that adrenaline and satisfaction of actually learning and improving 🏄‍♀️✨

Water skiing. Always wanted to try it and it seems so fun. You do more with your body when water skiing than being in a speed boat. If I ever want to go fast, I'd just drive on a highway or something.

Neither one, actually. I can't ski at all, so that's out, and I don't particularly like the idea of flipping over in a speedboat, so that's out too. I'll take sailing. Thanks.

I’ve been on a speed boat. Love it, though sailing is even better. No real interest in water skiing, but I have ridden a jet ski.
