When it comes to a trilogy, whether it's a movie or a book, which part is usually your favorite? The beginning, the middle, or the end? Or does it just depend on the overall story arc?

It depends on the trilogy. Part II of Back To The Future trilogy is the best. The first Smokey And The Bandit movie is the best. The original Star Wars is the best trilogy. I like all three of them equally. Revenge Of The Sith is the best of the Star Wars prequels. I hate the Star Wars prequels. Pitch Perfect II is the best of the trilogy. Out of the original Indiana Jones movies, the Last Crusade is the best. Out of the Cinderella movies, Part II is the best. Out of the Aladdin movies, the first movie is the best. And out of the Beverly Hills Cop movies, Part III is the best. Night At The Museum III is the best. Out of the Godโs Not Dead movies, the first one is the best. Out of the three Jumanji movies, the first one is the best. Out of the Major League movies, the second one is the best. Out of the Terminator movies, Part II is the best.
Donโt ask me about Jurassic Park, Jurassic World or any of the superhero movies.
If I missed any other movies, please let me know.
Sometimes Part 1.
Come to think of it hmmm 🧐 "how come everyone says "dark knight etc" in almost every couple of weeks or months in the public speak
🗣๏ธ 👀 Just an observation 👇🏻
Yet I hardly ever here anyone say burp Batman Begins 🦇 what gives I wonder.
All the TDK/DKR pop culture refs ๐งซ and hardly anyone ever says or types ๐ "Batman Begins"
Just saying.
I'm torn between Rises and Begins. Honestly... and I'd probably get in trouble for this... I think TDK is the one I like least.
And again I'm pushing my view by asking aloud "but nobody ever brings up Batman Begins with the same 'big deal' as Dark Knight or Rises? It's just odd. Is all.
First movie's count too ๐๐ lol or there'd be no franchise without movie 1. In all and any "franchises"
For Star Wars it was Empire Strikes Back. For Lord of the Rings it was Return of the King.

Part 1 generally seems to be the best, and the one they put the most effort into, in a trilogy, and it always leaves you wanting more. Then, for some reason, the ones that come after always seem to let you down and not live up to the first.
It's not a rule of thumb though. Batman Begins was my favourite, but The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises were both great too. And when it comes to Avengers... even though it's not a trilogy, my favourite was Infinity War. And there are others which don't necessarily follow that order.
Part 1 is most important. It determines if I want to go on to parts 2 and 3.
Honestly I think it would depend on the trilogy.
When the good guys die.
