With Sam Neill gone, can Jurassic Park ever feel the same again?

as a ride or die fan of Jurassic Park I'm pretty struck that Sam Neill has passed away.

as a 90s kid who didn't just binge on Jurassic Park but also played all of its video games for the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis where he as Dr Alan Grant was the character you played as the grief feels a lot harder.

his absence in The Lost World Jurassic was one of the few reasons I didn't enjoy it as much as the first. despite Jurassic Park 3 being the worst of them all so far I still enjoyed it cause he reprised his role as Dr Alan Grant and was the main protagonist.

his absence in Jurassic World however didn't bother me that much since I knew this was a different saga. but got excited once again when he and the rest of the main protagonist returned in Jurassic World Dominion.

The new franchise was done after the first film. Warped Hollywood logic Bryce dallas Howard with a DINO PETA group trying to save a man made invasive species of reptiles that is destroying ecosystems and some are deadly predators. The ultimate expression of liberal suicidal empathy.

i don't think they used him enough. he was great for the part but i can hardly recall him being a lead.

in the first one he kinda appeared like the main character cause he was the one that always predicted things and would always end up being the hero to save the kids from the T-Rex and then try to make it across the park alive.

in part 3 he was definitely the protagonist. he is the expert who gets brought into the mess and the one that knows how to keep the others alive

and i get that and recall both movies. i guess he played such a dull character that he was just kind of there. i checked out his acting resume and he acted for 57 years and i can only remember 4-5 of his characters. he is one of the most successful typecast actors i'd bet.
