Here's an interesting question... When you see or hear the song "You'll Never Walk Alone", what is the first thing you think of? Please vote in the poll and add an explanation if you wish.

i will write a My Take sometime about my 2 days at a conducting workshop with the Madison Scouts drums corps, but here they are, one of only 2 all-men corps out of 50 in dci, with their signature song, “You'll Never Walk Alone”

by way of background, dci corps members are all children and young adults up to age 21 (there is no lower age limit if someone has the talent, but usually it's 14), who work from September to May to put together shows for around 75 competition performances all over the U. S. in the summertime

if you think this is something, you should hear it in person, you feel like your face is literally being blown away (and i don't use that word ‘literally’ very often). i've had 2 other experiences that were similar, one when a Nascar stock car went past me at 180 mph and the other when skater Sasha Cohen went past me at i don't know how fast, but it seemed as fast as that race car at the time (btŵ i just noticed race car is a palindrome)

the second video is the corps singing the song, which they do from time to time, because it's not always convenient to carry a 42 lb. contrabass bugle around

Years ago I was in shows here and there and loved going to the old musicals. The first time I saw "Carousel" was at an old venue in a huge geodesic dome in Ft Worth called Casa Manana (excuse me for no tilde). I liked the song immediately.

For me it’s instantly Liverpool FC and Anfield on a big European night, thousands of people singing it together, scarves up, that red sea of fans 🌹⚽

Then my brain jumps to the original from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Carousel” and all the old movie-musical nostalgia. It’s such a perfect blend of football anthem and classic cinematic emotion 🎬✨
