The 1990s was the golden era of powerhouse vocals, raw soul, New Jack Swing, and intricate vocal arrangements. It was anchored by massive, layered harmonies, complex melodic bridges, and dramatic key changes. Personally, as a young person, I just can’t groove or get into today's R&B music like that because the autotune sound is completely overplayed and lacks real feeling, whereas the '90s was full of pure heart and vocal power.

On the other hand, the early 2000s took that foundation and mixed it with an incredibly slick, upbeat hip-hop crossover energy. It was the era of futuristic, heavy-hitting production from architects like The Neptunes, Timbaland, and Darkchild, blending infectious club beats with smooth melodic hooks and iconic singer-rapper collaborations.


When you compare the two, which era do you find yourself revisiting more? Do you prefer the raw, soulful vocal technique and deep songwriting of the '90s, or do you lean toward the high-energy, nostalgic bounce and crossover anthems of the early 2000s?
