When a musician says music speaks to me, they mean that music communicates with them on a deeper level, sometimes expressing feelings and thoughts they cannot easily put into words.


For some musicians, a melody can bring back memories, lyrics can express emotions they have been struggling to explain, and a particular rhythm can inspire creativity. Music becomes a language through which they understand themselves and connect with the world around them.

For me that's always meant music can evoke powerful ideas and feelings, memories, emotions, etc. I'm talking about the combination of the sheet music and the musicians/instruments and the lyrics delivered by a singer. Lyrics are just poetry set to music.

@Kelly6 I think they mean, that music moves them emotionally, as it does many of us. When I was playiing violin, if I could play a piece through to my satisfaction, (rarely) it moved me emotionally. With dancing, some music really drives me to dance better and that 'moves' me.
