Well, not so fast. Parents control adolescence if you want to go to college. Financial aid offices put liability on the parents for tuition, which means they have leverage over the 18-22 years gia financial blackmail. And. after leaving school one has to live somewhere before finding a job. Options are homeless or back home really.

So there's plenty of room for damage.

One way to escape is simply to get away. There are means for an individual (especially with money) to escape such situations. I feel no sympathy for a man facing this compared to a man facing real abuse.

She's a severely overprotective mother which isn't good. But she's not beating him, demeaning him etc.

I also don't know why this dude is watching this. He said it relates to his life but, again, it's partially his fault. I had a controlling parent but I found ways to get out and do what I wanted, while NOT being financially privileged. So I don't see an excuse.

I was just using it as an example to make a point. And, not everyone has money to simply leave unless they're willing to be homeless to get out.

I mean, it would be pretty hardcore to simply walk out and live on the streets. But that may or may not be better. I'm mot even sure. Many downsides such as poor nutrition and hygiene, which leads to poor health and accelerated signs of aging (ie makes you look ugly).
