well, my friend, who I considered very close to me slept with the guy I like. They had a summer fling of sorts and she now says she feels terrible about it

well, even though she feels terrible about it, I'm still very peeved about the whole incident. I think if she had told me it was just a one off thing I would feel differently. The only redeeming fact is that she assumed I was over him, which I'm not. It feels like she just yanked out my heart and walked all over it. I just honestly don't know what to do about the whole debacle except keep some distance between myself and said friend for the rest of the summer.

My girlfriends and I have a rule: Our guy or the guy we crush on are OFF LIMITS. It's a respect factor. Besides, there are so many guys who are available. Why would she have to target him?

She lacks a sensitivity chip and respect for you. Personally, this would be a deal breaker for me. I would not be able to see her in the same light anymore or trust her for that matter. You have to know where boundaries are in a friendship. Someone like this is completely untrustworthy and I would seriously re-evaluate your friendship with her, should you decide to forgive her.

Sorry about what happened to you but ask yourself this. Did you REALLY lead your friend into believing that you were over this guy, if so you can't blame her. As hard as it sounds you shouldn't let something like this come in between your friendship. You were friends before you liked this guy. I'm not trying to pick sides but trying really talking to your friend about this whole thing when your ready to. Don't throw it all down the drain over this one guy, good friends are hard to come by.

Actually, I met her after I met him. I was friends with him before I knew her

I liked him before I met her, I've known him for three yrs, and I've barely known her for a yr

Okay here is the cold truth not trying to be mean but if you've liked this guy for this long why not try talking to him before this situation occurred.

I did, we planned on going out on a "double date" before she broke up with her boyfriend. And I've been out of town because I am helping my aunt plan my brother's funeral

That's kinda what I plan on doing. I don't think I'lll ever be able to be close to her ever again. I think that if circumstances had been slightly different I wouldn't be as mad at her as I am. As for the crush, I've reconciled my feelings for the guy, I'm aware that he will probably never like me as anything more than a friend, even though I still have feelings for him, and I'm fine with that. Life goes on. At this point I don't plan on looking anymore, I'm burnt out on caring for people

Its rough and it will take time to get over it but you'll be okay. And I hope things can get better for you.
