My mom ignores me when I talk about my life?

I'm getting fucking tired of this.
Just now I just tried telling her about my plan to graduate early and she didn't say a word, just kept looking at her phone. I was talking for like 30 seconds and when she didn't reply I just said "okay forget it. " she didn't even react to that.

Another example was a few days ago and I was telling her that my best friend just got her first boyfriend and she looked at me for a second then went back to what she was doing.

And a couple weeks ago I was telling her how my friends just use me and don't really care about me and she just looked at me while I talked but never said anything. What the fuck.

AND YET she comes home telling me a hundred things about her day and I listen and talk to her about it even when its the most pointless, drawn out 20 minute story that I have heard before.

I don't know how to handle this situation. If I tell her I hate that she ignores me she will either ignore what I said or tell me I'm dramatic

ok this is the only time I will say this but what the fuck is wrong with your mother and the other girl that commented - I am sorry I have no words for parents like this, how are they even allowed to have kids ok do me this one favor - promise yourself that you will never be like her, when you have your own kids.

My mom is a saint, she will talk and talk and talk to me nonstop and she listens and comments... I seriously do not understand some mothers of this generation and the only thing I can recommend is ignore her the way she ignores you or continue listening to her...

My mom has an issue with this but she's not a bad mom. This is the only thing I can really complain about. She likes spending time with me and she is very protective and we even cuddle and watch movies. But she just doesn't show interest in what I have to say- I don't know why... she'll only ask me about the things SHE'S interested in, like certain friends or a certain boy or a certain class.

I dont think she sees her faults in this or maybe she just thinks she gives you enough attention, I dont know - mothers are seriously weird nowadays when it comes to their kids

Parents have been weird since the beginning of time. Some, I mean. You're lucky to have had ones without issues I suppose.

Oh I agree. She wants me to stay at home longer. So she is pretending I'm not graduating early

I know how you feel! My mom says half the time "why are you telling me this" or puts down my ideas and tells me they're dumb. or she ignores me completely. it hurts tbh like she always says she cares about me but when she doesn't even listen to me it doesn't seem so.

My mom is the same way. I've just learned to stop caring about her just as she doesn't care about me. I slip up a lot and start caring. I'm actually going to see a therapist about it next week because I'm harboring a lot of resentment over it. Maybe you should too.

your a good daughter she may seem like she is ignreing you but trust me she is listening to every word you say, sometimes its best to just listen, if you want to test this theroy start randomly talking about whatever and when she seems to be ignoreing you tell her your pregnant and see what she does

She is not a mother if she ignores you. Many women and men in this western world do so, I have no reason why.

I think I know how you feel. Both of my sisters have special needs so they take up a majority of our family's time & I've always felt like my mom classified my problems as second-best. She speaks to me more like a psychologist than a mother. I used to have to hear her complain about how hard her life is all the time, & usually it's about stuff that she shouldn't even complain about as a mom.
