My older brother is trying to ground me? WTF?

My mom and dad are on vacation this month to Europe, leaving my older brother (19) and I(16) home alone. Of course, they left him in charge. Why? I don’t know. Anyways, last night, my brother went out to dinner with some of his friends… so I decided that I would go over to my bf’s house for an hour or two. Well, we watched a few movies, and I didn’t mean to, but I fell asleep in his bed with him, but we didn’t do anything. JUST sleeping together. Nothing sexual or hard core. My brother got home and didn’t know where I was because I didn’t tell him. I know he wouldn’t have let me go to my bfs house if I had asked him, because he doesn’t like him. It was 12 in the morning, and we woke up to my brother banging on the window (embarrassing). The car ride back to our house consisted of him yelling at me. And today, when I got home from school, I told him I was going to a friends house, then he told me he was grounding me until our parents get home.

Is he allowed to do that?

I mean… its not like I had sex or got drunk, or did drugs or anything… and I’m still alive.

Isn’t he way over reacting? What should I do?

1. He's in charge because he's older and theoretically more responsible.

2. If he's 19, and your parents are out of town, then it looks like he's your guardian for the month.

3. He had every right to freak out when he came home and you were missing. Think about it from his perspective.

4. Your best bet is to apologize profusely, lay low for a few days, and then try and hang out with your friends once this has passed.

ehh I know you didn't mean for that to happen but I'm sure he was worried sick because he had no clue where you were and he knew his parents would KILL him lol. I would be frustrated to that he grounded me but he makes sense.

He was put in charge of you. Personally I wouldn't listen I would just be like "I don't care" and leave whenever I wanted but keep in mind your parents probably will take his side.

well he has reason to be concerned as to what your up to if your always out of the house and instead at a bf's place . so yeah he has a solid reason to keep an eye on you , not sure an all out grounding is the solution but there is reason to be concerned

Be thankful you have a brother that worries about you. try and reason with him, but don't argue.

He's over reacting. Just try to act civil with him and mature about it. Be like "I'm going out and there is nothing you can do about it" No screaming, no yelling. Then leave.
