How often do you talk to your best friend on the phone?

My best friend has been calling EVERY DAY and all that. She doesn't usually call much but it's like since her ex boyfriend dumped her, she's been calling me everyday since Saturday. I'm nof a talking on the phone kind of person and I prefer texting. I'm not saying that I don't like speaking to her. I love talking to her but not on the phone everyday. She loves taking on the phone sometimes. She called me AGAIN this morning and I really don't want to pickup the phone, but I don't want to ignore her. I got other people I want to talk to on the phone.
Sometimes it's overwhelming when friends call you several times a day everyday. I just need a break and put down my phone.

I get what you're saying. A friend of mine also LOVES to phone people. She talks everyday after work for hours on the phone. First with her boyfriend, next with her best friend. I lived with her for about a month and we never did anything together because she was always busy on the phone.

I'm also like you, I prefer texting throughout the day. I can't just allocate several hours of my day just to sit on my ass on the phone. I'd rather divide that time all throughout the day (by short texts).

We talked about it and came to the conclusion that you can't be close to someone if you like different communication styles. She can only be close to people who also like to talk on the phone, and I can't be close to someone who doesn't like to text.

Maybe you can make a compromise, say tell her you'll talk on the phone every other day, and on the no-phone day, you'll text.

My best friend is one of the few people I can actually talk to for hours on the phone and actually not be annoyed. I'm a texter and pretty much hate talking on the phone but I honestly don't mind with her. Then again we have been friends for 16yrs so there's that.

We now live on different countries so we only talk via Skype. But we usually prefer SMS or Viber
