Nudity at home?

This topic usually gets very strong opinions and surprisingly, the most conservative opinions usually come from the younger people. How do you feel about nudity in the home when there are children present? Obviously, most parents take a child in the bath or shower with them when they are very young, so it's okay up to a certain age. At what age should the opposite sex parent stop being nude in front of a child? At what age should the opposite sex parent stop seeing a child nude? At what age should siblings no longer see each other nude?

This question is prompted by a question I answered earlier. A young lady was sunbathing topless when her brother brought his girlfriend home. Sister got up without putting on her top and embarrassed her brother, but she did not understand his embarrassment.

I was raised with no nudity beyond age 3-4, but I don't pretend that the world should be defined by my experiences.

I maybe a nudist waiting to explode but I never understand why is nudity such a taboo.

The human body being naked is shameful.
We are all born sinners , and we must repent to be saved.

Outside of the Christian society , most Africa tribes or Amazonian ones untouched by western civilization often sees no shame in the human body and only wear clothes when required as a form of protection against the elements.

Anyway I'm sidetracking here.

At what age should siblings no longer see each other nude?
Sigh... before puberty sets in probably but then again with kindergarten children shagging each other these days I'm not even sure what to believe in anymore.

There's no iron-clad rules me think.

I was interested in this kind of topic, so I looked it up and found your question, I know u posted it a long time ago. If u look up "nudity" and go to like the fourth entry, I think it's called "what's your opinion on nudity in your house" and it's a vote. I wrote an extensive opinion there if u want to read it.

Unfortunately the way nakedness is portrayed in the media (specifically toplessness for women) I don't think I would realistically want to be naked in front of my children or have them be naked in front of each other past age 4-5
I would however teach them that it's perfectly ok to be comfortable naked, but that OTHER people may not like it and that its polite to be clothed in public.

It depends on what country you live in , like nudity isn't a big deal if you like live in a tribe in Africa or the Amazon. Nudity isn't a big deal in Europe either even if it is sexual. And there are even nudist families.

So i just guess it depends on the environment and culture. Also its wrong to shame people about their bodies and nudity shouldn't be viewed as purely sexual.

Between ages 3-5 kids should stop seeing people nude. Kids should stop being seen nude after 3. In my opinion of course...

In my opinion nobody should ever stop being or being seen nude. It's just the human body.
I'm not a nudist or anything and I don't think people who don't want to see someone naked should have to but at the same time, nudity is only taboo because the law basically forces us to cover up. There was once a time when nudity wasn't even thought about and there are still tribal people who don't bat an eyelid at each other nude.

Children being exposed to all the violence in movies and videogames is worse than just seeing another person nude in my opinion.

Currently I live with my girlfriend and her mom on one roof, some occasions we all nude together, and normally at home both got topless freely.
All depend on culture and custom.

Depends upon family culture. Personally I think that home nudity is OK alone or if kids are not more than 3/4 years of age.

You have raised relevant questions. To my mind if kids are sensible enough to differentiate between genders and clothing/no clothing, parents should observe care. Differentiation between genders does not mean that they know as adults do, but that a girl of say 3 years, when sees her father nude, her curious mind tells her to touch father's penis.
The families where nudity is practiced will have just opposite view. So it all depends the family culture.

I would find it very weird if I saw my 16 year old sister walking around butt naked. I sometimes walk around in boxers, but that really doesn't show anything. I don't want to see my mother naked either. I think your 3-4 rule sounds good.

It all depends on how you were raised. It's really only a big deal if you make a big deal or if it at any age. If it's common in your house the kids entire life it's never weird.
