How do you feel about nudity in your home?

Families have widely varying attitudes about nudity and partial nudity in the home. In some families, members are never seen in less than a bathrobe. Some families are okay with occasionally seeing each other in their underwear. Some families are okay with skinnydipping together. Some families are routinely nude at home.

When I ask about nudity, I am talking purely about nudity without any hint or suggestion of sexual activity, behavior, innuendo, etc.

In my own family, the boys were occasionally seen in their underwear but the girl was never in less than a bathrobe. If you think nudity at home is awful because of what it will lead to, consider that families which accept and engage in nudity at home do not have a higher rate of incest or sexual crimes against others.

I Grew up in a home where nudity was no big deal but when my wife and I met she had three kids and was very protective of the kids because of childhood trauma she'd experienced so I was respectful of her feelings. When the kids grew up and moved out I was free to be nude as much as I wanted. Because the kids would often come over un-announced and just walk in they got used to me being naked. We wound up having to raise our oldest daughter's 3 kids, (2 girls ,1 boy) from the time they were in 1st-3rd grade. We had a pool and never bothered with swim suits when it was just us and having 5 people in a house with one bathroom made privacy difficult. The Kids loved being nude and they're friends would tell them they wished they could be nude at home too. We went to family friendly nude resorts affiliated with the American Association for Nude Recreation Because we learned that they screen everyone to see if they are on any sexual predator data bases and they will throw out anyone acting shady or sexual. that's more safety than you get at a public park or beach. One of our granddaughter's, (now 21 still lives with us and we still wander around the house anywhere from fully clothed to completely nude and still swim and use our hot tub nude.

I don't hail from nudist family, however, my mom was never too strict in this manner. Sometimes she would come out of shower totally naked when I was present though early teen. Later I found it exciting, natural and comfortable to sleep nude, which gradually encouraged me to walk around the house when alone, or my younger sister was there. After marriage my husband appeared to be home nudist, like me. We both never wear clothes when at home. Its very natural living so I often suggest to my gfs to practice it, if not done already. Sometimes I stay nude in their presence.

Although mom was a bit of a prude, good little catholic girl, the girls were naked more often than us boys but, we did all get baths together until we were in school. The girls were even allowed to be naked outside in public until about that age. There's a picture someone took of mom and my youngest ex-sister on an island in the river about 8 blocks from the house. Mom had her bathing suit on, Karen was completely naked, and she usually was most of her younger years and, I remember seeing one of the girls, probably Kathy, completely naked in the back yard one afternoon near the garage. It wasn't the first or last time I saw her naked but, I remember after seeing her naked, someone (one of the neighbor kids, I think, possibly even my little brother) told a joke.

No idea if that was a reference to her not having a dick or her having a slit.
In my mid 20's, I went to a guy's house (Apt.) with other guys from my band and, outside his door was a sign on the wall that said, "Beware: naked man inside! Enter at your own risk!" I thought it was a joke until we went in and there he was completely naked! He stayed that way the entire time (2 hours?) we were there at his place! He preferred to be naked as much as possible and, as soon as he got home from work each day, if he had nowhere else to go, he'd strip down and stay naked until the next time he had to go out! His idea was: it's his place so, he can be naked there anytime he wants and, if anybody coming to visit doesn't like it, tough shit!!
I kinda feel the same way and, if I ever have kids, will teach them the same. We're born naked, just like all the other animals on the planet and everybody knows what everybody else has so, what's the point of hiding it? Only religion tells us that we're naked and that we SHOULDN'T be! Well, I don't cater to religion! It's all man-made lies and bullshit! People CAN co-exist completely naked with no harm done and there's lots of places around the world that prove that every day!! It's those that shun nudity that have all the problems with it! Other than sanitary reasons, and because there's a lot of psychos and perverts running loose these days (mostly BECAUSE of religion), there's no reason to be forced to wear clothes. There's nothing wrong with nudity! Your body is beautiful!
About 5 years ago, I saw a video on YT, some kind of documentary on a small Central or South American village and, although a lot of the people there DID wear clothes, almost the same kind we do, they weren't afraid of public nudity and some of them would walk around naked outside. In one section of the video there was a crowd of about 30 or 40 children running around outside playing some kind of game and a number of them were naked! And it wasn't just the 4 and under crowd! Some of them (especially the girls) were OBVIOUSLY WELL into their early teens!!
If you're not taught that nudity is bad, you won't grow up thinking it is!

As somebody who is going off to college in less than a year, I have had basically the entire experience from the kids point of view. I have a brother and step sister. My parents are divorced, and my mom re-married when I was 6, which is how I have the step-sister. My brother is 2 years younger than me, my step sister is almost a year older than me.
WHAT THE RULES WERE IN OUR HOUSES:
In my moms house, nobody ever showed much. My sister never showed anything. I saw my step dad every once in a while in underwear, but he was usually clothed. My bro I saw a couple times in boxers but he was usually clothed. My mom I only saw once or twice in as little as a shirt and underwear when I woke her up in the middle of the night for something. I never allowed less than boxers, but every few months someone would see me with just boxers. So we all kept clothes on. In my dads house the rules were different. My dad rarely had 100% percent of his clothes on, and often had only underwear. Usually, whenever he sleeps or goes to take a shower, he is naked. So basically you could end up seeing him completely naked about once a day. I think it was because of the different rules in the houses, but me and my bro never really followed his lead. The most we ever exposed was down to underwear, but even that was rare.
MY OPINION
I think the 2 different houses makes it hard. I think it would be inappropriate for my mom completely naked in her house around us guys, so we followed her lead. But then in at my dad's, we kinda just did the same thing that we did at my moms despite his openness. So I think it was hard for them to develop a consistent standard. And, I was old enough by the time my step dad moved in that I was already aware of the standards at my moms and so even if my step dad might have been open to nudity, the rules were kinda already set. I think my mom was right to have an unspoken clothing rule in the house with the different genders and unique family situation. The one thing that did happen in my moms house that did drive me crazy though was they didn't like closed doors and they would actively fight them. We can only have our doors closed if we are fresh out of the shower or for a short period of quiet time before bed. But otherwise they have to be opened, even at night. Even though I didn't (and still don't) go naked at my dads, I actually did appreciate his openness.

ABOUT PUBERTY:
Because of his openness. I had a good idea of changes to expect during puberty. The one thing that I SO wish he had done was sit me down and talk to me about puberty and MASTURBATION! My dad was never a “cool” dad who I could just talk to about puberty/masturbation/ guy stuff. Make it so your son WANTS to talk to you and ask u about that kind of stuff! If I had been able to ask questions and talk casually about that stuff, I wouldn’t have needed him to walk around with his dick out to get my answers. In conclusion, being able to talk about comfortably is more important than visual aids. This would also be helpful with daughters in the house because your son gets his answers and your daughter doesn’t have to see dick.

BACK TO NUDITY IN HOUSE
I would condone, maybe even suggest, depending on their personalities, having occasional nudity amongst the same gender. I would not go 24/7 like my dad, I think it’s a little much, but it isn’t that bad. I wouldn’t really allow it between genders though. But I think the most important thing is that they feel comfortable in their house with you guys. Give them some privacy when they want it, be open when they want it. And try to relate to them on your level. I hate to say it, but if u have a son, I think being “cool” helps with a lot more than just being “cool”. It opens up a good and healthy relationship where he feels you guys on the same page.

I was not raised as a home nudist and I have never practiced it, but the reply to your first question would be: Why is it so important tp always be clothed when your children are present?

I am not aware of any location in the US in which home nudity is illegal. Would you really want the government telling you what you can and cannot do in the privacy of your own home?

I grew up in a nudist family. Clothing as mandatory covering of the body is a social construct. Clothing in humans developed out of a need to adapt to cold climates as we migrated, and at some point morphed into a form of modesty, and then a societal requirement. Its not unnatural to be nude around your family. Its quite normal actually in many parts of the world to this date actually.

Nudity is not inherently sexual, and in fact by prescribing clothing for modesty, we as a society are probably causing that connection. As a nudist, trust me, I am not aroused by nude bodies unless there is specific intent to be.

Flashing is very different than being nude in a casual manner. Nudism and exhibitionism are very different things. In my state, exposing genitals to a non-consenting party "with intent to shock or arouse" is illegal, being nude in-and-of-itself is not.

I can't say I've seen any flasher but I've been told they get off on it. So the erection would likely occur after the incident. The one time I went topless on a beach, a guy approached me trying tot hook up with me. That's enough proof to me that's it's not uncommon for guys to get aroused by seeing naked women. We're used to it, honestly. When I see a nude women, I can find her attractive without being aroused. If that same nude women were to try to seduce me or act sexual in some way, that probably would arouse me. It can be hard for some people to separate sex from nudity, but its not as uncommon as you might think.
