How common in your home is nudity?

Growing up, my dad was a doctor and he treated nudity as pretty much another day at the office. So seeing my brothers or sister naked was not uncommon. (Though not my mom, and only my dad if we happened to be at the gym or a public swimming pool locker room together.)

My girlfriend grew up in a more conservative home - two sisters - and she says she saw one of her sisters naked maybe once in her whole life until my girlfriend moved out.

My girlfriend and I have lived together for ten years and have three children and we seem to be right in the middle with a tilt toward the way my family was. As my kids get older, I generally tend to assume that we will be more like my family, though I certainly would not demand that.

Anyhow, I just want to see how we stack up to other families.

I live with my mother only im her daughter amd we are in bra and panties inside the house and its normal. But we aren't naked or know how we look naked.
I've never know of someone who does this so please give a like to this comment if you know of a family like this or you are one yourself.

Like I mentioned, my family - both growing up and now, are pretty easy going about nudity. My sister saw me in my underwear when I was a teenager more times than I care to count. Nude too, though not quite as much.

My girlfriend and I are pretty easy going, though now that we have kids we are a little more conservative.

When I was young, it was pretty normal for y parents to walk around naked or almost naked. I was never comfortable with it and never did it myself. Now, no one here walks around naked though the boys seem to have no issue walking around in boxers with their house coats done up if they want to.

I saw my mom naked many times, perhaps it inspired me to dress in minimum clothes, followed by bra and pantie, and later fully naked sometimes (but not in presence of father and brother). After marriage I seldom wear clothes at home, so does my husband. We are very comfortable.

i've never seen my parents naked, but seen my siblings naked when we bathed together as little kids. once i was 5 years old, and my siblings were 7, my parents started washing us separately and that was the last time i've seen my siblings completely butt naked.

Thanks for responding. If I might - for some reason your answer prompted a question. Assuming you have sisters, did you never have a gym class together or were in the same locker room? No need to respond if it is too personal - and I should have thought to include that option in the question. It is just that I never would have seen my dad naked - at least I don't think so - but we use the lockers at a gym and so we sometimes see each other. I guess I was wondering how common that is.

i think i'll be fine with it because i'm already used to seeing people changing, 80+ yo women walking around with wrinkly saggy boobs, peoples pubic hairs that would reminds you of santa's beard when dried and when wet it's like guan yu's beard in the locker rooms. but i'm not sure how my sister would react since we don't really change together, even when ask if we can borrow each other's clothes we go back to our room to change. i mean i wouldn't have any problems changing in front of her but since she always went back to her room and closes the door i just thought she's not okay with it so i go back to my room to change when i ask to borrow her clothes.

Had to laugh at your descriptions. You should be a writer. At any rate, thanks. From the sound of it this is more about habit than shyness. You do what you always did. Kind of like with my family - you take things as you find them.

I grew up in a nudist family and we're planning on raising our son the same way.

Although we are not, my girlfriend and I know a nudist couple. Very good people and while we have no interest in the lifestyle, I can say nothing but good things about the nudists I've met. I can even see the appeal in the lifestyle in the sense that it feels good to be natural and as we were intended to be - at least for me sometimes.

Not common at least not in the USA. I never saw my Dad or brothers naked, my mom that's a different story, I helped take care of her when she got sick.

I am modest and my family too lol, and my family is not even conservative, and it is not for a religious reason.


It surely comes from our upbringing, but my younger brother walks around the house in his underpants and I have to say I'm not comfortable with it, I prefer it when he has shorts or pants. But I tell him nothing, because I don't want to impose anything on anyone. But yeah I'm absolutely not comfortable with that 😅

Just to give you a small background, my parents were born in a time where the country is so conservative, where religion plays an important role on how people behaved. I would think they carried that until adulthood - especially my super religious mom.

That may be - and certainly nothing to apologize for or that you need to explain. Even here in the States, my parents are about the same age as yours, my dad was a bit more casual about nudity than the average. My mother would just sigh and say that having naked boys around the house was the price of doing business in a doctor's home.

I had to re-read that paragraph because I thought I read it wrong the first time. Why would it be more like your family's as the kids get older? Usually, it's the opposite.

Well, it is sort of the bell shaped curve.

Scientifically, when they are very little, they don't care. At about ages 4 to 6 - it varies somewhat - kids develop a sense of modesty. As teens, however, there is a tendency for them to become a bit more relaxed about nudity again.

Not in the way they were when they were babies, and of course they react different around their parents, but that is the basic psychological pattern. There are evolutionary reasons that help explain this - but I'll spare you.

Beyond that, I expect to some degree that my kids will tend to adapt to the way they were raised. My girlfriend and I are nowhere near as easygoing as my parents - especially my dad - was, but we are also not exactly prudish. I am assuming - and it may not be true, only time will tell - that my kids will tend to take a certain level of nudity as normal.

They will be more easy going about nudity because we are somewhat easy going. That, and the natural development of teens will make it normal.
