Yes, Mothers Day is celebrated more. If I recall, FDR declared it a special day in the middle of the Depression. Fathers Day was created later by card makers to sell cards other than Happy Wedding in June.

Motherâs day is definitely more celebrated than fatherâs day. Probably for all of the reasons you suggested. Also, itâs newer. Motherâs day was an official holiday for almost six decades before fatherâs day. To my knowledge, motherâs day doesnât draw the same protests as fatherâs day either. Every year, feminists gather to declare that men are some combination of useless and evil, and fathers donât deserve to be recognized. Ell oh ell!
Ever since industrialization, fathersâ contributions to the family have been almost wholly overlooked and taken for granted. Father leaves the house all day. Nobody really knows where he goes or what he does. Itâs not like he comes home with a wad of cash to splash about either. He might have enough time to share a meal between chores and getting himself ready for the next day at work. He might be tired and/or grumpy and not want to put that on his family, so he withdraws.
Make no mistake though, most men would not put themselves through the wringer for their own sake the way they do for family. One of the broadest surveys of its kind showed that over 80% of fathers would happily work less in order to have more time for their families IF the family wouldnât suffer financially for the trade. Meanwhile, only about 15% of women said that they would pick up extra hours in order to afford their husbands that privilege. The tender years doctrine essentially made law the idea that mothers are vital, but fathers are not. Though widely debunked now, most of the laws created and precedents set from the premise of the doctrine remain on the books. The SPLC lobbies to classify menâs groups as domestic terrorist organizations. That includes fathers advocacy groups. So itâs not just thankless to be a dad, itâs criminal to support them. Ell oh ell! What a wonderful world weâve created!I think many guys are neglected affection so they don't expect it. Because it's better to protect one's emotions and expectations than get upset every time.
The same way when you start getting older and birthdays become less. So you just stop expecting a good birthday.
I think there are more people close to their moms then people close their dads cause usually the man has an easier time earning money so he is more likely to spend his time earning money while the woman often works fewer hours so has more time to devote to the kids. I know families where the children are around the mother over 3 times as much as the father cause the father has a busy job.
Yes, ofc
Because MOST of time, the mothers do everything. Cooking, cleaning, caringâŚ. while working full time. This society expects women to do perfect in everything to be a âgood motherâ. However, the dad? As long as he brings money and doesnât abuse you, he is a âgood fatherâ 🙃I don't even know when's father's day...
that's traditionBecause while we respect and admire fathers, mothers are on a pedestal, because we're not here without them and the birth pains they undergo in having us. Also, they nurture us and give us (especially lads) the TLC we don't generally get from our fathers, who are gruffer and usually stricter ( though no less loving) than our mother.
I just think in general men donât care about holidays and formalities to the extent that women do. My mom always was like expectations of how she wanted to be pampered on Motherâs Day or her Bday but my dad just wanted to be left alone and not fussed over ever.
No those holidays have always been celebrated equally at my house. I do prefer to relax on mother's day while my husband prefers to do activities on fathers day so I guess that part is a bit different
Dads want to be left alone. Hard to market that.
However, the "happy Father's Day to all of the mothers who are mother and father" and "the deadbeat father of my kid isn't around. Happy Father's day to me" piss me off.
The numbers are very clear ( in a past life I sold greeting cards ) Mothers day is nearly double fathers day on any available measure , its a givein. .
I Guess you found one of the few areas where I'm traditionalist. I'm totally fine with mother's Day being more celebratory than Father's Day. Reflecting on your question, it is rather odd and unfair but I'm still okay with it
we tend to have bigger family dinners on Mother's Day and this is one of the rare times we're all in the same city
Not for me, treat them both equally as important. Which isn't very important at all. I like to get a small gift and go see my parents just to hang out.
Yes, Mother's Day is held to a higher standard than Farher's Day. At least it won't bother me personally because I'm never going to be a father. 😁
I think it is more celebrated than father's day, because people care too much about women and their motherly status, and usually mother's are better looking than father's, and mother's always look after the kids and play with them then a father would, and that's not a bad thing.
Cause mothers are always in picture, they always care for kids.
Fathers often are just existing there lol
Also father's day became a thing later so I think people are not used to itThe mother's day is celebrated more than the father's day well i don't know why, maybe like any other female privilige but personally i celebrate them equally and they mean to me the same!
Yes, because men donât care as much. Women carry babies and give birth which is special. Both my parents are gone now and losing your mother hurts more. I tried not to forget Motherâs Day. Fathers day you are like whatever
Becoming a father is easy. You know how it works. Becoming a mother, on the other hand, is nine months of purgatory followed by 24-48 hours of total Hell.
I just think dads care less about receiving gifts and attention and all that jazz. It's kinda awkward.
