I'm 19 and literally only in the past month have my parents finally allowed me to drive myself places despite having my license since I was 17. Their excuse was always that if I screwed up, they'd get dragged into it as we're on the same insurance plan.
I wouldn't say you're immature. You're in a hard spot trying to be an adult yet not having the freedom to be able to. Plus, despite your ego, living with your parents while you attend college is a GREAT way to save money. Keep at it for as long as possible.
But NEVER lose sight of your goal. Keep pursuing your desired education. Then you'll never be immature; just smart and economical.
As for driving, it takes a while. My only advice is to be patient. It's a process getting your parents' permission to drive alone. First they made me drive them around places for practice before finally sending me to do chores alone for them around town.

For a person who just got their license, I can see why your parents won't let you drive because you barely have driving experience and they are nervous. But at the same time they have to learn to trust you and that if you couldn't drive you wouldn't have your license. I guess you'll just have to talk some sense into them until they let you
