Is it wrong that I sleep with my sister?

OK, I know that it sounds weird but I said SLEEP, not HAVE SEX. Me and my sister live togather (she's 22) and she has generalized anxiety disorder (probbably coming from a dysfuntional family) and has trouble falling asleep alone and even if she does, she usually has nightmares. So I let her sleep in my bed with me and we cuddle. She likes to tuck her head between my chest, chin and left shoulder and hold her teddy on the other side of my chest. I wrap my arms around her and will run my finger through her hair and reach under her shirt and rub her back to help her fall asleep. a lot of people think that it's wrong but I don't feel any sexual feelings when we're cuddling, but feeling her soft hair and skin is very relaxing for me and holding a warm person just makes me feel better. For the lack of a better analogy, it's kind of like cuddling with a pet in that you feel relaxed but not aroused. What do you think, is it wrong that me and my sister do this?

Well in one sense it not being its a big brother trying to help his sister , but in the long run it really isn't helping her. What happens to her if you find a chic and get married and move off? Who is gonna comfort her and help with sleep? I just don't see a wife taking it very well to hear her sister in law will be sleeping with us

I can see that you're coming from a good place You want to take care of your sister and that's fine, and the sleeping isn't too bad, but the cuddling is a bit off putting. You should probably try and seek professional help for your sister.

It does sound sort of strange because most brother/sister relationships aren't that close. But no it's only wrong if one or both of y'all start getting sexually attracted. If it's innocent brotherly love then you're good.

@Prettygurl12 I don't think that you should judge someone in that position until you've been in that position. When I was younger, I thought something like that was "inappropriate". But then I was raped at the age of 19 and beaten to the point that I couldn't even walk. I sat there curled up in the fetal position for like 20 hours and then called my brother who carried me back to his place and dressed my wounds. that night, he carried me to the couch and tenderly laid a blanket on me but it took me an hour and a half to fall asleep and half an hour later I was woken up by a nightmare so I (almost instinctively without even thinking about it) crawled into his bed tucked my head between his chin and chest so I could hear his heartbeat with one ear while listening to the relaxing music he had playing through his apartment with the other. He wrapped his arms around me and we took deep breaths together until I stopped shaking and then he pet my hair until I fell asleep.

About a week later my physical wounds healed, but until then I couldn't stand to be in a different room than he was in; even when I took a relaxing hot bath I wanted him in the room with me. I put the curtain up but because I couldn't see him I talked nonstop. Whenever we watched TV, I curled up in his lap, I always wanted to hug him and I couldn't sleep unless I was snuggled up in his arms. I don't even know how to describe it but those big arms wrapped tightly (but gently!!!) around my tiny little body (even after all the pain that I'd been through) made it feel like nothing could ever hurt me. I even found myself wishing he was an octopus so he could have eight arms to wrap around me It just felt so serene and peaceful. After a week I started counseling and while we still hugged, we didn't cuddle although we still shared the same bed and a week after that I went back to my place and things settled back to normal.

But the asker said his sister and he came from a dysfunctional family so maybe she has issues with PTSD and maybe seeing a counselor could help them both. But having been in a similar situation I can't judge because if listened to what society said was "inappropriate for siblings" and didn't snuggle up in my brother's arms for a week after the attack, I probably would have became and alcoholic, turned to drugs or worse...
So while I think that this guy should get his sister to see a therapist, what I learned from experiences is that when a loved one has suffered severe psychological trauma the only "appropriate" thing to do is whatever has to be done to make them feel safe and comfortable.

I get where you're coming from, but two things:

1) This WILL hold you back from meeting a woman to date.
2) your sister is going to be dependent on you and dysfunctional

You may want to explore other options.

I can tell you are coming at this with the good of your sister at heart. That's cool.

But you've got your life to live... and she needs to learn how to live hers. And finding ways to help her become independent and strong on her own is what she really needs -- and I think what you're doing (while it comes from a good place and is well-intentioned) might not help her in the long run.
