Why does my boyfriend forget to call when he's out with friends?

We been together for years but we've been long distance for 1. He goes out once a month for Army drill and hangs with friends after training each day...and always forgets to call me to say goodnight. It's always been "tradition" for the past years we do that...he's the one that even started it. He doesn't even answer his phone sometimes...well he does but then after another day he doesn't. And it's always because his phone died or he forgot his phone or he forgot or whatever.

When I go out at night with my friends, I always think about him..and I never forget to call to say good night. -_- Him not calling=forgetting me

How hard is it to pick up a phone and say, "Hey babe goodnight, I love you =)" NOT VERY HARD!

Hm he texted me today an hour ago. He's still with his friends but I'm waiting for a good time to talk lol

Very similar to my boyfriend, been together for 10 month, first 6 months been together as he had a military mission in my country, then been long distance since he finished work here and back to his noral life,
we used to text each other every morning and night, he even used to call to wake me up, but step by step he stopped doing it.
we are in touch but not like in the past, I asked him if something changed after getting back to his country he said no, even his feelings still the same towards me and he still love me.
But, I don't feel I am on his priority list, he forgets about me when he is busy, when he is with family, when he is out with mates... I never argue about this but I really hate it! I don't want to show him, that i sometimes get jealous but it's stronger than me.
in my opinion, no one is busy it's all about prioritiies , I'm very disasperate :(

It isn't very hard to do a simple gesture like that, but if there is one thing I know, it's if a guy is out with his friends, he is just trying to unwind from the week and just wants to throw responsibility to the wind before the work week begins again. Doesn't mean he is doing something you wouldn't approve of, but I know our minds kinda wander...

He is probably just having a beer, watching the game, and talking with the guys. Men won't abmit it but they just need some guy time once and a while. Just like women when we go the salon or out shopping, our friends would be p*ssed if we were sitting there talking to our boyfriends and besides that's girl time! You get what I mean.

It is completely another thing is he lies about where he is going, details, who is there with, when he came home, etc... that is a bad sign if he can't be honest. I would just talk to him about the way it makes you feel, and then compromise about it.
