My boyfriend tells me he can't call me while he's visiting his family and friends. Why would he say he can't?

So when he goes home to visit family and friends (I have yet to meet them) he always tells me he can't call me when he's with his friends or family. I feel like he's embarrassed of me or he's cheating on me. I don't know what to think or do

Because it's rude to travel to visit someone and then spend time on the phone. Maybe he can have a quick good night call once in a while, but if (IF!) you can't keep a call under 5 minutes without guilting him to talk longer, then you are the reason he can't even do that.

You need to be a grown up and realize that the world doesn't revolve around you. Anytime you make it difficult to communicate with you, you encourage him not to.

Well as a father when my kids come visit I tell them to put their phones away. You’re here to spend time w the family so do it. Get off your phone. I do the same when I visit my parents unless it’s a real emergency. My girl of 15 years knows I’m this way too if I make a trip 4 hours north to see my family. So unless I initiate contact first she won’t bother me unless it’s an emergency. He’s a his family, let him be.
