Two scenarios: it’s sexually charged, but no one wants to admit it

Or it’s so platonic that the thought of having a relationship with them is like kissing your brother or cousin. This scenario also works with the gay BFF. Also if your BFF is family.

Note your SO may not be comfortable with you cuddling with BFF. And your BFF feelings may get hurt if you suddenly distance yourself because of a SO.
