Do You Answer Your Door If You're Not Expecting Anyone?

This may be silly, but I am genuinely curious.

Growing up with my parents, whenever someone rang the doorbell or knocked on the door, they would answer the door NO MATTER WHAT. If they were taking a nap and someone knocked, they would answer. If they in the bathroom and someone knocked, they would answer. If they were having sex (this is probably an exaggeration... lol... but you get my point), they would answer the door. Basically, no matter what the situation, they'd answer the door.

Now that I am an adult and have my own place, I NEVER answer my door. EVER. The only time I answer my door is if I ordered something or if I am expecting someone. Most of the time; however, if I am expecting someone, they don't even knock or ring the door bell... they will just text, "here" and I'll answer the door. If I'm not expecting you, I'm not answering.

Is anyone else like this?

If I'm not expecting anyone I just peak by the window. If it's important they will leave a note. I also become a statue and I won't move until they leave.

The last time I didn't follow my response was when a neighbor knocked and he asked me for my wifi password 🤔🤣 so I will not be answering any more knocks that I'm not expecting.

I'm the same way. Although, I have a story worse than the wifi thing... and I kinda feel guilty about this! Lol. One time, I heard someone banging on my door like they were the police and I didn't answer my door. After the banging stopped, I looked outside and saw a woman running away. I thought it was strange, but I didn't think much of it. Few minutes later, cops and an ambulance came to the area. I later found out she was trying to get someone's attention, because her husband beat her. I felt bad about that. However, we have 3 cops that live in my neighborhood, so I am not sure why she didn't knock on their door, and she has a cop that lives right across from her house. It was a strange situation.

Oh no! That is worse, at the same time you had no idea. You are just trying to protect yourself because from all the events that are happening around the world you just dont know. If I had been the lady I would have knocked on every door I could until someone came out. I wouldn't just knock on one door.

Hell no. I wait. If it's someone I know they will text me. If I don't get a text I'll peak out the window because my anxiety says it's a loved one who's dying on my doorstep but it's usually a Jehovah's Witness. Lol

I get so many people here advertising and selling things that I ignore it half the time unless I'm expecting some delivery or the person doesn't look like they're selling something. My wife is like that though. She always answers the door and I'm like, "It's probably just someone selling something." And it almost always is.

No, i wouldn't stop everything right the instant, but yes of course if someone is at the door you answer it.
Maybe with some exceptions like really late at night.

yes because they may need help and I do this to get them to stop ringing my doorbell or to stop the door knocking and bothering me too ! Thanks

I look to see who is out there first. Then I usually answer, but I always have a weapon with me when answering my door.

I like to know who is there first. We have a camera to see who it is. After dark , unless we know before hand door will not be opened...
