How Long Do Online Friendships Last?

My longest one is currently 10 years! We have NEVER met in person, and only spoken on the phone maybe...2 times? But we text and message regularly!

I met him back when Yahoo messenger had chatrooms. We got to talking about motorcycles, clicked, and just kept talking.

Nowadays we discuss everything: his marriage, kids, our jobs, random crap... it's really nice 😊

But to answer your question, it varies based on the effort you put into knowing the other person.
I've had some that only lasted a few months, years... and some I've had now for 5 years. Some of them I've NEVER met or exchanged pictures with! But we're still friends.

I’ll keep in touch with the person but i lack commitment to anything outside of a relationship. So its just natural for me to fall back and drift away and not chat as much as i would if we were in a relationship

To be honest most of my friends are girls and 95 % of them we meant in some forum or manner via stranger chat or dating app of game app more than likely we role played and even tho we might have had a forum of cyber sex ,, lol we still have remained friends even tho we don't cyber sex anymore ,, I think if you bond with someone. I've had one, last almost 2 years, . .. Most, dont make it two weeks, just people trying to scam, or use your information, or trying to access my accounts,! I'm Not a big fan of anything on line, trust issues, scams/S scammers, and Your never really sure , who is on the other end !

I made a good group of friends online my freshman year of highschool and we're still connected/talking to this day. I'm about to graduate college in May if that gives you an idea 😉
