Usually when he's been drinking, and usually while he's with his guy friends. And always when he thinks I can't hear him doing it.

I'm not really bothered by it. (well maybe a little) Mostly I just want to know why a guy who isn't single would be doing this?

As Desirae said, he shouldn't be doing this and isn't appreciating you, tell him that you can hear him doing those things and tell him it hurts you, maybe he'll stop, if he doesn't he's a jerk.
