Why do parents block their kids eyes from romance scenes in movies?

My aunt used to cover my eyes during the kiss scenes in karate kid 🤣?

I understand they want to cover innocent eyes but little kids are curious and are going to find out someday so why prohibit them from seeing it like some type of dictator.

The culture in the United States is that of sexual oppression. So when it comes to romance and sex scenes a lot of parents don't want their kids to see that as they feel it's closer to say pornography than anything else.

When I worked at Blockbuster video way back in the day, I would have parents that would come in and run movies for their kids loaded with violence blood and gore but if there was a hint of sex or nudity then it would be an instant no.

So violence blood and gore is okay just don't show boobs.

It's an hassel if you start to explore too young well now 13 years have started exploring already and internet has given full freedom can't save you from internet.

They are not afraid of the act you would do unknowingly or knowingly but if you go beyond the limits and have consequences it will be a burden for you to uphold the responsibility.

So they just try to protect you from the consequences.

It’s an effort to keep you innocent and not exposed to “inappropriate” stuff in this world. I didn’t get it either when I was younger, and I still don’t really feel like it’s necessary if you have the right guidance as you grow up, but I do get it. Kids are getting physically active young and younger these days. I once went to a cousin’s 8th grade promotion and her classmate was fully pregnant lol that’s like 12 years old. I assume our elders were trying to keep us from getting ideas..

It wasn't unheard of in the 1970s, when I was growing up. I don't know about pregnancies, although they might have just "changed school", or maybe they were better educated and used condoms. It's not a new thing, is all.

It’s definitely not a new thing, I was just adding that for emphasis as to why our parents tried to keep us innocent as kids. Maybe we’d be less inclined to explore our sexualities at a young age, especially if it’s what our friends were doing.

I think it’s more from not wanting you to grow up too fast.. I wish I would’ve been able to be a child longer than I was. It’s really sad that children are sometimes robbed of their innocence and they’re not allowed to be children. They’re forced to grow up too fast and develop mental problems when they’re older.

Everything has time for everything. Kids mind won't be able to accept this when they would see a naked or sexual explicit scene in a movie. It'll affect their mind and effect will be bad in long run.
I know now a days, watching porn is much more easier than 20 years back but mechanism of developing a human brain hasn't been changed yet.
So all the parent should protect their kids from these type of scene as much as possible.
I'm not against it but everything has its time and as it's to get porn or any adult that doesn't we should allow our kids to "go with the flow".

To preserve their innocence for as long as possible, so they don't get any ideas of copying them. Considering how impressionable kids are and how often they want to do something because they saw it in a movie, I get the parents' actions.

My mom only did that with nude scenes. They’re trying to protect kids from stuff they feel like they’re too young to be exposed to. I don’t agree with it. You have some good questions.

I've only ever seen that happening in really cheesy movies or series from the 90s or earlier. I'm not even sure if this ever was an actual real life thing.
