Is it bad to keep my chinchillas downstairs when we don’t really go down there often?

backstory; when I first got them , I lived with my parents, so they stayed in my bedroom. Then I moved in apartment with boyfriend, they were kept in a room where you could always see them. then the next house they were in a basement we never ever went into unless it was to feed or play with the chinchillas. Moved into this new house (forever home) we used to have our living room set up downstairs, but we recently moved everything upstairs. Now the chinchillas (2) are down there alone most of the day since we really don’t go down there often. Just wondering if I should move them upstairs?
I don’t sleep well with small noises and we’ve always just kept them a bit further away from our room. But I don’t want them to feel unloved or not part of family. We have 3 cats that don’t bother them , and a dog that doesn’t bother them either but the other dog will. So the chinchillas will be kept in guest bedroom with a dog gate.
or what do you think?
