+1 yIf I had to make an educated guess, the reason most people say motherhood isn't a difficult job is because there's no "hours": you don't clock in to do a shift and you don't clock out, plus there's no paystub for "milestones delivered". Therefore, because the mother is just at home raising the kids and most people don't consider being a stay-at-home-mom a job, there's no way to quantify how much her labor is worth.
There's two ways to look at the labor produced by motherhood:
-infinitesimal: the mother spends time at home and doesn't need to make an income, therefore she has unlimited free time and her labor has no value
-infinite: she is tasked with raising the next generation to maturity. The job of producing morally-defined, mentally-stable members of a productive society (or something of that approximation, assuming that is what she is managing to do) has so much value that, if it were a job with a salary, the nation would go bankrupt
If parents aren't at home raising their kids, then the kids end up as delinquents and the effects of juvenile delinquency do not typically improve, unless drastic course corrections are made, as they reach adulthood. Therefore, B is probably more true. Because of this, society does not want motherhood to be considered a job.00 Reply

A woman who stays home to take care of children and does a great job of taking care of the home and her husband too... that is a VERY demanding job and, in my opinion, is the most important job in the world. I know some mothers who do just that and take it very seriously. They are happy and fulfilled and their children and husbands are very lucky and they know it.

+1 yI put yes because I have a hard time with feelings of isolation. I have to take care of them 24/7 non stop. I have to also make sure I don’t traumatize them with my own traumas and toxic traits. It’s a big fucking deal to be a parent, you are literally shaping another human being. So for me, it’s the hardest job ever and it’s definitely not for everyone.

I voted "no" because there are more difficult jobs. But I also think yes and no; yes for reasons you mention, especially the immense responsibility of shaping another human being during their formative years, and also the fact there's no "union breaks", you gotta be vigilant and on call pretty much constantly.
1.6K opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. I stay at home with my 3 kids and it's pretty difficult compared to what most people do for work. Its literally being busy 24/7 even in my sleep... My husband is in the army works 12+ hours most days, has been deployed multiple times and says that a day in our house is more stressful than being in a active combat zone

I think the fact that women STILL won't accept that they need to register for the draft, tells the truth that it's not nearly as bad to be a mother.
I've heard many women say "I want to have another baby" or "I want to be a stay at home mom" but I've never heard anyone say "I want to step on a land mine again" or "I want to work 80 hours a week fixing roofs in July".

Absolutely not!!! I think its a false argument... because how many people have to work a crap job for 30 years just survive?
Motherhood is one of the most fulfilling jobs in the world, because wanted kids, you choose to have kids, you choose to stay home and job only really requires you work for about 12 to 16 years and by that time the kids can take care of themselves.
These stay at home mothers get to stay at home because that is what they wanted and choose for themselves... so many do not get to make that choice they grind out their lives while taking little to no satisfaction in their work.00 ReplyNo, because both my parents worked full time jobs and still managed to come home to make breakfast , dinner , teach me math, make sure I was doing well in school, clean, taught me how to ride a bike.
There are plenty of parents who both work full time and also have to come home to take care of the house and the kids.
If stay home mom is too hard for you, then I don't what what "hard" would be. Thats the easiest life can ever get. You're lucky if you get to stay home all day.00 Reply
+1 yNo, it's not. My wife complains about waking up after 7 and how hard it is to hang out with friends during the day when kids are at school. She occasionally puts clothes in the laundry or puts dishes away.
Meanwhile I come home from work having been up since 4:30AM; been yelled at in multiple meetings, signing off major projects, coordinating efforts with up to 10 different stakeholders simultaneously, making decisions which impact the lives and safety of many people.
My mother in law who's a lifetime stay at home mom feels impressed to tell me "You don't know what hard work is- your day is shaking hands and making friends". Yes. Just keep telling yourself that.00 Reply
+1 yMy wife is a stay at home mom. I go to work, she looks after the kids. Ah but its not that simple. I work away Monday to Friday. She does all cooking, cleaning etc.
She does everything for them constantly. We have 2 very smart kids. both have passed to go to grammar schools. Both have had a set routine every night since they were old enough to understand no TV after 6pm. Do something constructive until you go to bed. Read, learn to play music instruments etc...
She is also the local Avon rep, dinner lady at the primary school, cleaner for a few elderly people in the village. But she is still the stay at home mom.
Tough job no doubt, and more than I could do.00 Reply533 opinions shared on Family & Friends topic. No. But in many cases, women aren't working harder than men outside of the home either.
Used to be that people understand what teamwork is. Everybody doesn't have to be the quarterback or the lineman. You can be the kicker or water boy and still make a big contribution. Just do what you do really well and don't go claiming that you're something you're not.10 Reply
+1 yBurr is hilarious, I enjoy his woman-bashing. Burr is the comedic version of me. Although it may sound like "bashing," it's really just calling out women (especially these neo-feminists) out on their bullshit. He makes comedy out of reality, that's talent.
10 ReplySimple test:
Offer women the ability to work in the coal mine, or the ability to have a family.
They will choose childbirth and motherhood every time.
There's a reason all the dangerous, dirty, and far from home jobs are Male dominated and it isn't Sexism, it's because women don't want to do those jobs. When is the last time you've seen a hiring campaign for equality in female ditch diggers? Never, yeah exactly.00 Reply
+1 yIf a woman views taking care of her kids and being around them as a "job" then she shouldn't have reproduced haha. Raising your kids and your legacy isn't a "job." A job is what you do for money to have a life and a family

+1 yYes especially if kids aren’t in school they’ll be keep calling. Or if their in school if they do something wrong who’s got go solve it most of the time? Plus cooking , cleaning.

+1 yIt wasn’t difficult (I was home with my kids for 3-5 years).
it was boring for me. I needed interaction with other adults and more stimulating conversations.20 Reply Maybe not the most difficult but definitely the most important and responsible. The outcome of not raising children properly can be seen throughout our culture.

Of course not. The easiest job is also not true but by far it would be closer to the truth.
