There are a few things that come back and still make me angry, TBH.
One is that I was told I was essentially too stupid to be able to recognize my own feelings, and subsequently put on SSRIs despite insisting I didn't feel any of the "anxiety and depression" I was misdiagnosed with. I'm still feeling the effects of what the SSRIs did to me (even if I'm "back to normal" physically, it changed a lot about me mentally) years later, and still picking up the pieces. I don't blame my family because they thought they were doing the right thing and trusted professionals who were unfortunately not very good at their jobs. I truly believe I was a typical kid struggling with puberty and experiencing the very normal emotion of anxiety about all of the change going on in my life, and in no way was I in need of medication.
I had a handful of teachers who were massive bullies as well, and boy do I wish I knew then what I know now. I was so young I pretty much thought adults had everything figured out and would never do anything intentionally mean or deceitful. My KINDERGARTEN teacher flat out called me a thief for retrieving my own marker that rolled across the floor, screamed at me when the zipper on my backpack jammed and I began crying because of her screaming at me and me being unable to open it (and then she screamed at me for crying). It really takes a pathetic piece of shit to get off on bullying 6-year-olds the way she did.
I also had a third grade teacher who made up blatant lies about me so that I'd get in trouble with my parents (like that I had hit another student, was horribly behaved all the time, etc. - she also sent home "behavioral reports" with bad behavior with the majority of our class, and told another student that she needed to be on Adderall - what a freak 🤣). I swear, there was something mentally wrong with her, and she was actually forced to resign a couple of years later due to the multiple complaints she received from parents (and it wasn't parents who were unable to accept that their precious angels could do no wrong; they were absolutely in the right in this, as she was batshit insane).
I never got why teachers who seem to hate kids were stupid enough to choose that profession for themselves, except for the fact that I think ones like these are typical junior high bullies who don't fit into adult society since you can't exactly pull this shit on other adults, and they are bullies and control freaks who get off on the power trips they get from bullying and intimidating children, so they go back to school so they can continue it. I wish schools would squash the opportunities for these nuts to work for them any longer rather than letting them continue to work there for 30+ years.
I was also unfortunately around a lot of toxic people in my teens when I rode horses, including adults who were massive bullies as well and thought it made them look like big people to act like an asshole to a teen and her horse, and one dickhead in particular who was a wannabe "trainer" and took it upon himself to ride my horse without my permission and then proceeded to complain to me about how awful he was. 𤬠What really happened was that this so-called "trainer" was actually a beginner rider with an overly inflated ego and finally met a horse who wasn't a babysitter that would tolerate poor riding and rough-housing. The asshole also used my expensive tack and returned it to me filthy and missing pieces, because apparently he was too good to use certain parts of it and felt entitled enough to screw with it. 𤬠I finally got it all back, but was PISSED. I was also beyond livid about him riding my horse without my permission and practicing his bullshit "training methods" (a. k. a. untraining) on my sensitive horse who needed consistent, good riding and handling and was not a beginner's horse who could "take a joke" a. k. a. be ridden by someone prone to making a lot of mistakes without it interfering with his training, nor a toy for a wannabe "trainer". Also, it could've been a liability issue if the idiot would've gotten hurt and tried to sue.
Agreed. It sucks that they keep their jobs for so long!
Lol that as young girls most of us were told that when boys are mean to us, itās because they like us⦠Most of those girls are in domestic violence relationships because that abusive/toxic crap is normalized.. They throw around the word ātoxicā like itās something to be proud of, which is why thereās so much abuse now. Itās very sad.
Thank you

I know that Iām not an adult yet.. but my parents fought a lot when I was a kid, they donāt anymore because they just ignore each other for the most part. I never grew up in a āhappy familyā and that was okay.. because I spent a huge chunk of my childhood with my grandparents. They were and still are very much in love. Their relationship was the only thing that gave me hope that love exists.
My mom is also sexist. She says she isnāt, but her behavior says otherwise. She is also racist. The thing is, she doesnāt realize that sheās being racist when she says things about other racial groups.. she was raised that way though.
i donāt blame her for raising me different from my brother. The country I live in is largely unsafe for women. Iāll be moving out after Iām 21.. so everythingās good. The problem is, she isnāt sexist when it comes to her, but she is sexist when it comes to me.
I was brought up saying, āif you donāt learn to do laundry properly, your husband would divorce you in the futureā , ādonāt give me the attitude. If you do this in the future, your husband will leave youā. I was raised saying I was only good for getting married.. and sheās a surgeon. Iām happy that my dad says I should focus only on my career until Iām 27 and he asks me to pay no mind to her.
Iām going to move the fuck out of this shitty house and go away somewhere peaceful.. itās my life, she canāt decide what I should do with it. My life, my rules.
I donāt want to end up in a toxic relationship like her. Most importantly, I donāt want to end up like her, in general. Sounds harsh, but thatās the truth.
Sorry for the rant
Iām really sorry about that, it sucks. I hope youāre doing what you love now, though. You dont have to continue their legacy.. especially if itās something you donāt agree with.
Yeah! Iām really glad. Iām going to med school this year. Though my mom wants me to be financially independent, she says sexist stuff sometimes. Probably her mood swings, not sure
Thatās admirable! Iām glad youāre doing well now.. you deserve it!
Thank you very much! Youāre very kind āŗļø
This is a tricky one. Because I want to say nothing because I used to be REALLY pissed of about a lot of things, so how I feel when I think back now - isn't close to that.
I can say that I still at times, deal with bitterness towards my sexual abuse as a child. My father who treated me like an outsider in his new family & at times could be extremely verbally abusive towards an already fragile child. My mother, who despite of doing her best - is a low class, low ressource parent who ended up in a abusive marriage - where everything was about alcohol. I'm bitter towards my teachers and adults - who failed me and the adult men that accepted to have sex with me as young as 13.
But what I do get most bitter about, is how I kept falling through the cracks in the system, being a child of a low ressource foreigner who was struggling themselves and not able to reach out for the support requires. The times I was picked up by the system - did safe my life. Now I'm a small part of the system & try to do my part well. I do my best to fight for the kids in my care and not become a part of the problem.
My parents were pretty shitty parents who never learned to better themselves or learn to be better parents. My dad carried his discipline to the point of being abusive to me. Iāve forgiven them of most of that, they were just being dumb, but what I hate them for was they used to also gaslight me, which had me doubting my own opinions. Theyād complain about my towel in the bathroom being dirtier than everyone elseās, and I wasnāt washing my hands properly, when I discovered later that everyone in the house was using MY towel.
The wood pattern on my bedroom door was such that it looked like two identical monsters (with a set of eyes for each one) was staring at me. When I was little, they used to scare me to death when I was trying to sleep, and Iād even point them out to my parents, but theyād say, āI donāt see anything like that on there.ā Years later, my mother pointed to my door, and said, āLook! These look like two scary monsters on here.ā I responded with, āWell, I donāt see anything like that on thereā.
The aluminum frame on my bedroom window had a tiny aluminum flap at the bottom to let the rain out of the track but also keep the bugs out. When the wind would blow, this little flap would tap tink-tink-tink-tink-tink-tink. When I was little, I didnāt know what caused that sound, so I asked my mother. While it was making that sound, she said she didnāt hear anything. Years later, she pointed out to me that she could hear some tinking sound coming from my widow, but didnāt know what it was. I responded, āWell, I donāt hear anything at all.ā
This crap was insulting to me, and I didnāt like them playing āstupidā with me.
As a kid, my dad was very particular about how he wanted things. He had a setup where there was a space where the vacuum went first, then the recycling bin. That was presumably so that you could reach the recycling bin without having to reach over the vacuum. On Saturdays, he got really busy, and often really angry and annoyed with everything. Me and my sister had our chores Saturday. As a kid, I always thought I should put things how I found them. That's what I was taught. My sister went to use the vacuum, and didn't really care, and put it back in front of the recycling bin. So, I used the vacuum after her, not knowing she'd put it back wrong, as I was just doing my jobs on autopilot. I put the vacuum back how I found it, which was how my sister had left it, with the vacuum in front of the recycling bin. My dad had to put something in recycling. As I sat there sweeping the kitchen, he screamed at me, literally screamed, full volume about how he has things where he has them for a certain reason. I just had to sit there and take it, and continue to do my chores. And yeah. That's something that still irks me to this day
My dad was abusive. Not as bad as some, but a bad temper and he made it clear he thought I was idiotic and worthless, when I was a good kid.
I had one detention ever (for not being able to get to class in time because of daily brawls blocking the hallways and I was coming from the other end of the school) - he had threatened me for years about if I ever got detention. Didnāt cause problems in school. I had a meltdown that time because I thought heād beat me within an inch of my life, but of course I wasnāt allowed to say why I was terrified. Dude gave me nightmares.
With both parents, I was not allowed to get a full time job away from home (definitely not out of state), and not allowed to quit college when I had a few internship and job offers early on. Since I couldnāt get good work, they had me, because I was under their roof.
Mom wasnāt physically abusive, but she was a bit too controlling and had a bit of a temper and a long memory. Good at guilt trips. So to keep them both on even keel, Iād just do what they demanded. Both parents were way too controlling.
I had panic attacks from his abuse (though more as an adult) and both parentās behavior. Iām still getting them way too frequently (though less than when they were alive) since they left me with a mess - Iām still in a mess they created for me and it will be tough to climb out of for years - if I ever manage to get out of this hole.
When I find it, I'll let it go. Used to hold onto some anger with specific people from my past that I didn't realize I was holding onto, but have since let it go.
Stuff like that plays in the background like a file on your computer without you even remaining aware of it if you don't address it.
When I started to notice myself remember a guy and visualizing beating the shit out of him viciously with my bare hands for like 5 minutes just driving on my way to work. That's when I was like wow I should probably do something about that emotion 😂
So I did and I don't have that anymore lol. I'm sure some memories from my past of some anger attached to them still but nothing I'm legitimately pissed about.
That I never had a chance to have a decent childhood. But im no longer pissed about it and got over the bitterness. ok that's a lie. the bitter feeling will probably always linger but I don't dwell on it anymore. Its been decades and I'm a friggin adult. Im too focused on creating a future with the actions and decisions I do in the present.
That my mom talked bad about my dad. He was far from perfect and had a drinking problem but now that Iām older I see that he wasnāt as bad as she made him out to be and it really just hurt me in the process. Parents donāt trash talk the other parent to your child!
The difference in the treatment between me and my sister. She was allowed to do anything she wanted while i was the oldest so I wasnāt allowed to do much, and it resulted on me being left out a lot and missing out on a lot of experiences
@DonkeyDan Sorry to hear that. Itās difficult being compared to siblings or being treated differently to them.
The way my mom treated me as opposed to the way she treated my siblings.
Don't get me wrong, she wasn't the worst mother, but she took a lot of her shit out on me and I always got in trouble with her while my siblings could practically get away with murder.
college was ok but having a relationship within college was a nightmere because of yonger women that didn't listen to single thing that i said that i was in a relationship with some guy. the yonger women always temp the guys that i did have relationship to cheat. they didn't listen to me or my prevous boyfriends that are ex boyfriend. high school i dislike. the English teacher i was the most pissed. always found away to get into trouble even i did nothing wrong.
I'm still mad at my English teacher from middle school because one time she heard a phone go off in class and we were supposed to keep our phones in our lockers and she wouldn't let anyone in the class go to lunch until the phone she heard was in her hand
My Mom is a narcissist and everything is about her. I resent that. However, I went into therapy to learn how to cope with a dysfunctional family and I learned a lot. If she wasn't a narcissist I never would have gone into therapy.
That my parents lied to me about some things and how a boy in my class (we must have been in fourth standard) said "I love you" to me and my friend on the same day... Lol
My parents putting me down and calling me worthless when I didn't meet their expectations. We have a great relationship now, and everything is great. But those tes as a child, the things they have said to me, I don't think I'll ever forget.
I ain't got no worries! Na I'm too suicidal to be thinking about thinking that upset me. I might end doing something crazy
Don't do anything silly.
That my mom caused my eating disorder that I'll fight with for the rest of my life.
@Cathy7734 neither cause I'm getting help and managing it, but it's always there at the back of my mind, I constantly think about food, how I look, what I want to eat, what I shouldn't eat, how bad I am for indulging once in a while, it's exhausting.
I was bullied in 9th grade. It was pretty bad. This kid was 3 years older than me he just got left back a few times. He was 17 in the 9th grade.
I am not sure what I would do if I ran across him today.
I still resent some of the kids in my highschool classes. They didn't necessarily bully me, but always made me feel left from the class as a whole and I'm still not over that.
I avoid reunions with my old batch cause I know they're there and I have no interest in seeing them.
Ok youāre gonna think in crazy but
so there was this one Tuesday afternoon in June 2006 where māhabiller sister hit me with a bottle and when I told my dad, she said that I hit her and he believed her and not me. Still not over it lol
That it had to end. Being an "adult" sucks - bills, responsibilities, etc. Sometimes I wish my needs were taken care of and all I had to do was chores... Maybe how my dog feels... :P
Some teachers in my school.
Some shit 'friends'.
These so called friends, I can get over with. But what I cannot get over with are those shittiest of teachers in school.
My mom never being there for my theatre plays.
It might seems pretty, but I am about to finish professional theatre school because of how much I love that art.
She came to see me play two or three times in the last 10 years.
It still hurts.
that my parents prohibited videogames up to a certain age and then limited it after that. they kept saying this isn't a job you can make money with. you should plan your career... i could have been a streamer or youtuber.
instead i learned a manual labour job... and we all knows what's happening to that kind of job these days. so i'm actually back to school, doing a masters in order to actually have a steady job taht pays.
My parents never gave me freedom in my childhood and teen years I could've spent my time doing stuff with friends but noooooooo I was forced to stay home also my siblings they're another problem to deal with now that I'm old enough I'm saving up on buying a house just to get away from this shit hole
Iām not really pissed but Iām kind of frustrated with how adults left the world for my generation. Examples are nuclear weapons, climate change, overpopulation, political extremism, concentration of global wealth, deforestation of the rain forest, acidification of the ocean, run away militiary industrial complex, etcā¦.
- Trauma from swimming lessons because I had an asshole swim coach.
- Never got to go to Disneyland.
- Other things I'd rather not say.
Anything you are still pissed off about from your childhood you need to let it go immediately! Being āpissed offā only Hurts the person that is āpissed offā and does Not change Anything!
I can relate to @donkeydan answer however my brother actually is successful and I just wish that i wasn't even born. For some reason, even though I have my family's support, I feel that I have been nothing more than a burden.
Thanks to psychiatric shitheads and their army of therapist, psychologist and darkness, they have made my parents to believe that I will never be normal. My parents have raised me to believe I will never be anything in school and career.
That my dad has always been uninvolved and a deadbeat father.
Agreed. Family! All I've ever tried to do was be what they thought, do what they say and be accepted. Nope! Since there isn't really anything bad they can say about me as an adult, they don't say nothing to me at all!
They made me a cheapskate and now they ask me why don't i spend any money. When i spend money, i am faced with a large guilt complex
But I'm still being told what to do by someone approve me and probably always will be
Above*
That my dad tied us up and beat on us kids and my mom. Then lock us in the closet.
I always hated my father
That I never had a girlfriend in high school.
😡😡🤬🤬
Ho my first grade teacher had the nerve to tell me i wasn't gonna make it to 2nd grade cause i got a math problem wrong smh.
i hope she dies...
My siblings just easily given what I wanted while i worked hard to get it. Basically middle child syndrome.
Maybe just having to sit through an extremely boring and useless history class in Iām still aggravated about it to this day
Being a superhero at heart kinda kid. I really hate it.
Kids trying to steal from me, fight me, and bully me back in High School. I was a teen, while they was kids.
not yet an adult but i was bullied for being severely underweight in elementary.
The abuse and neglect I've had to go through. I'm disowned on both sides.
Too much time on the road during vacations that werent relaxing
Nothing. Mistakes were made but only the weak live in the past. It can't be changed. It is what it is and I wouldn't be who I am or where I am if not for the experiences of my past, both good and bad.
Lol i think i block out all the bad and pissed off memories i had as a child
My mom didn't let me play organized football and basketball. Smh
If you're 28 year-old Olivia from Married at First Sight Australia, it would be the fact that someone threw sand in her face in primary school.
There appears to be a lot of very precious and fragile egos here. Let it go guys.
The physical abuse from the school principal.
No.
And I found out he was still alive.
It really bothered me.
His son was in my class and his best friend.
I know he was abusive to all of his kids.
I recently reconnected with the son again and he seemed to have no memory of the abuse and surprised that others were bitter towards his dad.
It's best left alone.
Well I was 16 . I'm 20 now. but what makes me mad is society's lies about attractiveness and not warning men about female nature
I never anyone to force advice to how not to waste time!
no... I grew up out of it...
Being placed in special ed. for too long, not figuring out how to flirt and successfully talk to girls in my adolescent years
Mother aināt shit ass mother
I meant my. š
not being able to leave a school where horrible things happened to me
Plenty, nothing I'm going to discuss though
Being molested by my neighbor
How insensitive most of my family was.
That there was no Santa and no Easter Bunny
