Did you like your grandpas when you are a child?

Yes, I was loving both of my grandfathers. One of them is died at 2004, and other one is 2014.

Complicated situation.


The one biological one that I knew as a child I did like but then as I grew a bit older I realised all the issues we had such as favouritism (he had favourites in terms of his own kids and my dad was the lowest - even though he’s the best), favouritism between grandchildren (he treats us very different), he can be racist, sexist, and just plain nasty. However, now he is actually my boss and we do get on, and he’s gotten a lot better. He’s not as angry and strict as he used to be, and we have a good laugh.


My other biological grandad (mother’s side) I didn’t know about until I was around 13? (I thought my step grandad was biological). I found out he used to beat my grandmother, had a gambling addiction and gambled all their stuff away, kidnapped my mother when she was a child, and was involved with a LOT of sketchy people. He is also very very racist. I spoke to him for the first time when I turned 18 and he reached out to me, I send him messages occasionally. I don’t really know him.


Step-grandad on my dad’s side - has been in my life since before I was born. He’s the best, so funny, great guy I love him!


Step-grandad on my mother’s side - he lived far away so I didn’t get to know him very well but he visited when he could and he was so nice, loved him. He was a great person but unfortunately passed away when I was around 9?

i barely remember one, he died from lung cancer when i was 4 i think. my other one is suffering from cancer too, but will probably make it. i visited him a few months back, it was nice spending time with him.
