Why does my mom not like when I succeed?

I called her to give good news that I returned a used car I recently bought that was having too many problems and was possible flooded car by the problems it had. I told her I bought the same type of car but in way better condition with few miles on it. She instantly got so mad and started calling me stupid and that I'm doing stupid things and why didn't I keep the other car. I told her this car I just bought is great condition plus cost $5k less. She kept trying to talk me down and say I made a mistake. I told her "why are you mad? I'm giving you good news."
She goes on saying "good news?". I got annoyed and told her nevermind bye and just hanged up. Why she has to be a hater? I feel like she's also mad that I didn't need her help at all and did it on my own

How can I not let her affect my emotions? How do I not let her words bother me?

I heard that some people don't like seeing people close to them succeed because they feel like they won't be able to relate to them or even possibly manipulate them as much.

And the key to not allowing her to affect your emotions is to remember that she is less mature than you. So you might benefit from viewing her in this specific way as being more like a child. A very stubborn child. And we wouldn't likely get easily offended by the words of a kid. Or at least we shouldn't.

And also, to distance yourself from these people is in my opinion the best solution. But more in a gradual & non-hostile way. Because if their love for you was healthy, they'd work towards more constructive words & actions. And that's what I feel that we deserve when it comes to the people closest to us.

She might have narcissistic personality disorder. read mariah carey's book. her mom was jealous of her from a young age; its part of the disorder (cluster b personality disorders). Mix of genetics and trauma.

Forget Mariah Carey, y'all gotta see my grandmother, she has absolutely 0 heart in her, she does absolutely nothing and wants everything, she talks shit about everyone including her own family and tried turning the fam against each other, she supposedly never does anything wrong and blames others for what she does, I also have a suspicions that she killed my cat by throwing salt on the floor, not only did my father's cat die when he was younger from being poisoned when she was around him but mine died as well and was fine before she arrived, she offered to change its water like she ever had a damn heart, all the pieced fell together recently, narcissists have no cure, your mother might have narcissist traits but if she has a heart at points and sympathy for other people's emotions and other life then she isn't a full narcissist, either ways tho there's some tips on how to live with a narcissist if you search it, that's of course if getting her out of your life is out of the picture
