Honest, is it selfish to walk around your home with two earphones in?

In a sense that you live with your family and if your family call you, you simply can’t hear them. So is that selfish of you or couldn’t your family members just tap you if they need you or come to your room because they want to talk to you remember. Isn’t it it not lazy to not just get my attention? Like it could go both ways but if I want to be in my own vibe and be comfortable in my own vibe listening to my own music then why not? What happened to going to someone if you want to speak to them. Why would I have to walk around the house with one earphone out just in case if someone calls me. I’m basically doing that for others so it’s easier for them but what about me being in my own vibe. Plus I don’t really want to get interrupted while listening to my music. I just think it’s my opinion I’m entitled to run with. My mum keeps demanding I take one ear phone out just in case but I don’t really want to talk I just want to do what I’m doing and keep myself to myself

Honestly, I agree with you; my partner and I almost always have our headphones in for down time and it’s okay. Both, him and I like our music dearly and it’s what we bonded over, so naturally we listen to it on a daily. But in saying that my parents seem to disagree, even to the point of getting up us for doing so. We don’t listen though, because it’s what you relax to and who is to say otherwise. I say keep them in, there is no point into allowing someone to control what you can and cannot do. All they have to do is give you a gentle tap and there, they have your attention but insinuating that you shouldn’t have them in your ears to accommodate to them isn’t right.

Right! Different case scenario with me because I still live at home and my mum is the one complaining. Now she’s my mum and being 22 I understand but I still stand strong in being in my vibe. I shouldn’t have to listen out just in case she does call me cause like you said music is what relaxes you and it certainly relaxes me and I love that vibe. But she feels it’s her house and it’s selfish and if I don’t like the fact that she wants that to be a rule, that’s my problem. Tbh it’s selfish as well if you don’t want to simply tap me or come to me. It’s about what I should do just in case you need me. That’s a selfish act too. I could move out and I want to but I can’t atm. I would if I could but that’s a type of control I feel just cause you can’t be asked to tap me and or come up to me when YOU want to come talk to me. Like honestly… Go read a book not intentionally but like I’m just a little frustrated

It’s not rocket science but I keep hearing the excuse I don’t want to walk all the way up to you and tap you… okay well whatever you’re tapping me for clearly isn’t important. You don’t want to tap me, fine then me listening to my music with both earphones shouldn’t be a problem

Ofc but in this case I don’t know they’re calling me but you could just tap me and I’ll take out an earphone if you want to talk. It’s as simple as that. Don’t be lazy, just tap me. It’s not a big deal cause clearly you can see I’m vibing to my music
