Do you admire those parents who want to become parents for the first time when they are in their mid or late 40's?

Question

I mean with all the things that are happening in this world and also that bringing a kid to this world at this moment plus all the things that will be involved in raising and having a baby and more difficult whenthe parents are in their mid 40` `s or late 40`s!!

Things are more expensive, house finances, health, education, kids more involved now in technology, the risks out there for currents kids and teenagers , people are more emotional unstable, and much more things that involve having a kid in late years when they will grow up and not to mention the health of the own parents when they are older. Also the risk for the mom and even the kid being pregnant late in life. Of course each woman is different and I had known cases where there were mothers who became pregnant for the 1st time in their 40`s and the pregnancy turn out great.

On a social media site, I read a forum where a woman posted and ask for suggestions and advices to random people (yes she asked random people for suggestions !!) to look for doctors specialized in in vitro fertilizations, then I read the whole comment she posted and the post says:

scared that the traditional way (the natural way) will no longer give me time to conceive"

The question is even if the pregnancy at that late end up well, in this troubled world we all live in do you think it is admirable those moms still desire to be mothers and bring a kid to this world?

I mean the one with all the effects of a pregnancy is the woman the man will never suffer having the body effects or the risk fo loosing the baby or the mom getting complicated during pregnancy.

I don’t think we should be admiring one thing and dissing another, I think it’s down to the parents choice and what timing works best for them. Some people might want to have kids younger so they feel more fit and healthy, some might want to wait until they are financially in a really good place and mentally too.

I personally don’t want kids in the future, but if I were to I would probably want them around the age of 30-32? I used to say I would have kids super young but I would much rather live my life first, do everything I want to do, etc. and make sure I’m comfortable financially before having children.

My mother had my sister and me mid 40’s. She didn’t go into menopause until mid fifties. i think it was 57 she started getting hot flashes.

You make it sound like mid 40’s is the jumping off point. 🤣 Not the case for everyone.

Most people are stable by my age, have their sh-t together. My mum didn’t start declining until mid 80’s, and that was triggered by an accident. Quick as a whip and full of energy up until then. She was the favoured volunteer parent on all the field trips. Teasing/racing kids down the main streets in her ‘86 camry, and winning, when I was a young teen. She was an excellent mum.

I don't "admire" them at all. Seems to me there is some weird underlying reason why they would want to do this. Doesn't seem healthy mentally, to me. I've known two or three women who had babies when they were 42, but I can't really see it much past that.

I somewhat know of a lady who had her first and only at around 45. I suspect that it was through in vitro and it was my understanding that she was never married. The daughter is a nut job and had two kids before she was 20. Last I heard this lady was around 70 and still working and supporting her daughter and 2 grandkids.

It's their choice but for me I would not. You'd be in your late 50's when your kid is a teen. "Hey dad do you want to play catch?" " I wish I could but I have a bum shoulder, knee, herniated disk, early onset dementia, 3 stints, arthritis, etc. Maybe tomorrow if the weather isn't making my joints act up." I view it as selfish move.

Parenthood has nothing to do with other people's admiration. It is a strictly personal matter.
Personally, I don't think late parenthood is a good idea. But a lot of us are mislead into thinking late is better or no different. I hope we all get to decide based on truthful experiences and medical facts.
With so many disabilities on the rise, I would say don't have your own kids. Adopt. At least until they have it figured out. Parental age, specially maternal age, is a huge risk factor in the health of infants, specially these days.

Omg no that's a terrible idea. They won't be able to keep up with their kids. My in laws had a accident baby at 40 even tho they had older kids it was still a struggle for them.

I do. I don’t want to have kids until that age. My parents got me pretty late as well in their late 30s. I think the right time is the one when you feel ready not when the society says.

Why should and shouldn't admire? What that has to do with admiration if anything? It us their personal preference. Medically it might be advisable to have kids before 35 I usually think of 25 to 35 window

You know that I admire anyone who wants to start a family. I didn't have my first and only child when I was 48, and he is a healthy little 6 year old boy with a poppa with lots of life experiences and patience. Because it takes in my experience a village to raise a child. My life partner also carries similar views and if we cared what society says about us having a child later in life, our lives wouldn't be as full of life, love, excitement and happiness as we know it today.

I would think 30s.. 40s seems a little late.. I mean when your kid is in their 20s you're gonna be in your 60s.. That's a big gap

My mom was 42 and my dad 45 . They give me the best life both of my parents are lawyers. I never went hungry I always had everything Thanks for my parents. Now my dad even give me his first home he bought when he married my mom.

No. My father was 37 when I was born. Man is 80 now and doing alright, but I'd rather see sons and daughters see their parents grow older a bit later.
