What should I gift my mother for her birthday?

It’s my mother’s birthday tomorrow. I need some ideas for gifting her a meaningful present.

I used to make cards for her when I was younger, but since I’m much older now, I thought I could gift her something she could actually use. I’m still gifting her a card, of course (that’s tradition), but I want to buy her a present as well

She does not use makeup, so cosmetic products are off the table. Any other ideas?

Maybe a kitchen item such as a popsicle maker mould for making fruit juice popsicles by freezing it in the freezer or baking equipment for making cup cakes such as cupcake moulds or saffron spice which is the most expensive spice in the world, a coffee mug for her Starbucks visits could also work or a small collection of specialty stamps from her favourite vacation country or famous person or artist. My cousin used to buy us cultural stamps every time we visited China and we loved it but told him to stop cause we did not want him to spend his money on it when he could not afford it.

Have you thought of getting all the ingredients and preparing a nice meal for you all? Sometimes it is simple gestures like that and the effort that goes with it that make for the biggest and best surprises.

Ok, so one thing we got our mum was a very nice hard bound "journal". Just an empty book and asked her to write her thoughts and such down throughout our lives so that we could pass along her wisdom and words to our children when/if we had them.

She would write in it from time to time. Recipes, thoughts, memories. One day, she will pass it to us and then we will share with our children.

There's a specialty candy that is hard to find that only my mom and I have ever enjoyed
I just ordered 4 bags of it (I really like it too 😉)

My dad and I bought her a body wash, body scrub, lip balm, and a moisturizer. I turned it into a care package kinda thing. I gave it to her today, she seemed to like it. I’m not sure about the chocolate/toy ones, I have to ask her hahaha

Hmm how about making her a nice “self care” kit including things like a scrub, scented candles, facial masks, hair masks or things like that. Or maybe treat her a spa massage or mani/pedi day!

I bought my mother-in-law a set of kitchen knives once.
My wife, then girlfriend, looked at me with fire in her eyes.
"So the only thing she deserves is to stay in the kitchen all day?"
I never considered that.
So for birthdays or especially for mother's day don't ever buy them kitchen aids.
If the kitchen needs a new blender, just buy it for the family when you realize it. Don't give kitchen aids as a gift to a woman.
