Why do some people come up to me or sit near me and try to speak to me when they see me?

I lost my mask one day and that same day some people who never spoke to me or cared to notice me came up to me and tried talking to me and even waving hi. Next day, some more people / other people started asking me questions about where their friends were and I had no idea because I don't pay attention to gossip or where people go, and then a group of other people just came up to me and asked to sit near me. And what's weird is when I sit alone at a table wearing a mask no one bothers to come up to me, look at me, speak to me or even wave "hi" to me, but when I take off that mask people suddenly come up to me, wave hi to me and try sitting near me. Are these people considered as fake? And why would some people randomly come up to me and ask me questions? Why are some people so fake?

It could be hard to tell if someone is friendly or not with their mask.
You probably appear more approachable without it.
So.. it doesn't mean people are fake.
People can just see your expression with your mask off.
