Why do dads get upset when moms comfort there sons, and why do moms get upset when dads comfort there daughters? Its so weird?

I think my question needs more context. I think its when they interpret the son or daughter as being attention seeking or manipulative or innapropiately affectioante or seeking affection at an innapropiate time, like bedtime or when they were naughty in the other parents eyes

Perhaps it is just jealousy? I don't know.. I grew up never experiencing it and as such am not.. so I'm probably the wrong person to ask.
