Am I selfish for not wanting my mom to invite people along as we do errands relating to me?

I rely on my mom for transportation. She gives me a ride to work and to other places. When I run errands I like to do it together (my mom and I). It irks me when she gives me a ride to work in the morning and she invites my cousin to go along. I like to get to work in silence. Recently I had to visit my aunt for something personal, and she invited my cousin (12). When it comes to personal errands I do not see it as a fun activity and I do not appreciate her inviting other people. I told her about it and she claimed I was being rude. I’m going to work at 8 in the morning not going to to a party. Even when it comes to going shopping, I’ll rather do it with her or alone. I’m not being rude or selfish it’s just that I do not like making a personal activity a family affair.

If you're going to give her the silent treatment, she probably just feels like a taxi driver. Since you're not paying her for her time, gas and wear and tear on her car, she probably wants someone along to keep her company. You're using her and then feel entitled to control all the variables. Yes, that does make you selfish, for you are showing no consideration for anyone other than yourself. It would be one thing if you looked forward to sharing quality one-on-one time with your mom, but there is no quality one-on-one time happening here.
